SBO 2022 - Cheaper by the Dozen - 12 String Bass

Man that is just stunning!

Beautiful workmanship, that claro is crazy nice, and it sounds fantastic too.

Thanks, Jeff! I appreciate the drool. :)

Well to me it sounds fine.

More than fine actually. It sounds like an amazing instrument. Looks great too. Hats off to you!

Thanks! I should have just included the Jeremy clip, the other one is so low in volume... ugh, but I was having issues and I was in a hurry.

I think you should be disqualified for building a bass that's too nice.

I think I should be disqualified just as a matter of course.

Wow! I already liked your WBO22 build, so I thought I knew where this one was headed, but you surprised me once again with tons of great details, wood choices, fantastic execution, and by the fact that you still have more neck laminations than strings:thumbsup:.

Thanks! I keep refining this design little by little. I'm really happy with the way my neck/body transition has improved. It feels amazing. I just wish I played up on the dusty end of the neck a little more often. :D

Dayum. That’s a winner right there.

Thanks!

Hot damn! That looks and sounds amazing!

Thank you!

My thoughts exactly.

And to think that this was a bit of a rush job. If I had half the tools and one tenth of the skill of you Gary I'd be a happy man (well, happier....as my life is pretty good anyway)

Yeah, I cannot believe that I started this in mid-July and actually finished it. I was still going at it with rasps on Friday! Send me your address, I'll send some tools over pronto! ;)

That turned out really nice!

Thanks, man. Love your build as well! :)

Holy crap man, your work always blows me away. This looks and sounds killer, beautifully done

Thank you, sir, I appreciate that. I don't play much anymore, so it was a little rough just getting a couple of passable sound clips. :D

This is one of my favorite basses, just from the idea and the look. And then I heard it. very nice. I’d definitely show up to see it played.

Thanks, I'd love to have some others play it. I think it plays great for a 12, but I've never played one before, so my opinion may not count for much.

Wow that is an incredible build
If I didn't know better, I'd ask if it were for sale

Well, why not ask? I don't remember it being said that it isn't for sale. Did I miss something?

No you didn't miss anything. I just figured OP might not want to let it go considering how much work they have poured into it

The thing is, most of the time, as a builder..
One can always build another.
If I build it, it will be for sale.

Wow, thanks folks, I couldn't ask for better compliments. :) While this particular one isn't for sale, I would certainly entertain the idea of building one for someone. If you're interested, PM me and we can have a discussion. :)

But this one will stay in my fold; it's the first 12 that I've built, and the third variant of my first bass design. Any subsequent builds will be better anyway, just by applying what I've learned on this one.

Then there's that ;)
