View attachment 3358761 View attachment 3358762 Finally got the 4ply tortoise pick guard from, Pickguard Heaven/Chandler Music. Took almost three weeks,to get it to me,no problem. Had real good communications with the person there,biggest issue was they had three different templates,and had to know the measurements of the one I ordered. After once convincing them of the measurements,which they were wanting to make sure it was the right one. Got within in three days after confirming the one I wanted. Sorry for the rant! Here it is with the tortoise,and the black pick guard. Edbo did the mod for me on the toggle switch on one of the volume control knobs. Thanks,Edbo!

Finally got a set up done on my Stiletto Extreme-4. It needed some work right out of the box, but now it's sounding better. The action is a bit higher than before, so that's taking more getting used to than I would've expected. It is so nice to be able to play the first fret and get an actual tone rather than just buzzing, though.

Also trying flats on it, mostly just for experimentation. So far so good.

I just called Schecter, the string spacing with the Monstertone 5string J pickups is 17MM. Invalid Link Removed

The 4 string Monstertone J pickup is made for a 19MM string spacing. Invalid Link Removed

I can not overstate how awesome Schecter's Monstertone bass pickups are, a very high quality pickup made in their Custom Shop in Sun Valley, California.

AliExpress sent me these for 4.50€ so I thought I'd try them in my CV-5. I know buying a non-metal looking Schecter then adding aftermarket metal to it is probably very stupid. But they look so cute!

Considering it's a passive bass with hot pickups and many voicing options, which kind of strings should I buy, knowing that I'll be mainly playing 70's prog, 80's new wave, 90's alt rock n Grunge and some Muse....?

DR Hi-Beams. I started using them 3 to 4 years ago on the advice of dUg Pinnick. They sound like Roto's but keep that full bright tone so, so, so much longer than anything I've used. I wish I'd have known 30 years ago.
DR's coated stings are awesome also but, I'm wearing the coating off them long before they go dead. LOL.

I've found that my favorite so far has been NYXLs. That being said, all strings go deadish fairly quickly. Recently went with some cheap Dunlops which seem super bright.

I use to believe that and experienced the same thing until I started using DR Hi-Beams.
They keep that fresh, full and bright 2 day old tone so, so so much longer than Roto's, Boomers, Slinky's, D'Addario XL's and others strings in the lower cost price range. And I mean way, way, way longer !
I can't judge the NYXL's or the EB Cobalt's as I've never tried them. I'm too cheap.
Hi-Beams are truly phenomenal IMO and I'm so glad I took dUg Pinnick's advice and tried them 3 to 4 years ago.
