SCHECTER.

I own a 2004 Schecter Stiletto Custom 4 since 2004, payed $625 ten years ago. Its not a neck-thru though mine is 6 bolts pattern with the 2 band active EQ and the EMG-Hz pick ups. I have to say, its earned its keep in my arsenal of basses and has been very reliable. Its not currently my every day bass but it was for years. I've wondered about buying another one but have been curious about Schecter's quality control as I've heard horror stories about the studio models. Its definitely worth a test drive - they hold up as well as the Spectors and ESP's IMO. Good luck...

I have done a ton of gigs on Schecters in the past, and the EMG equipped stuff is good as it gets in it's price range. The diamond pickups are not so great, but the EMGs cover a lot of tonal area. I'd hit it ;)
IMHO even with the stock-non EMGs if you change out the Preamp it makes a BIG difference.

Great basses

That's my feeling, I think that the basses themselves are built and play very well, they serve as an excellent modding platform. Mine has EMGs, but I'm looking into upgrading to a 3 band eq and some Nordstrand Big Singles.
