Scott’s Bass Collection

I could've sworn that I read somewhere the neck was warped on the Fender. I guess I was wrong on that one.

When I first started watching his videos he was using Vanderkley amps but in the last year he seems for favor Trickfish and he has another amp head but I'm not sure what that is. Maybe others are correct in that companies are sending gear to him for advertising exposure.

Yes. I find myself losing interest in great part because of this. That and the multiple daily e-mails about giveaways and stuff have gotten annoying (I was a subscriber to his website for a while, but I'm not renewing this year).

I think it is his way of making up for not having guests or being able to travel. I really think he needs virtual guests and guest teachers to spice things up.

Good rule of the road in life:

Try not to be offensive. And also try not to be so easily offended when someone casually says something and isn’t trying to be.
As a fellow Englishman, also a Scott that has lived in Leeds, I find it quite surreal that this is considered offensive in 2020. But England isn't the US. I also find it quite surreal that I'm suddenly aware I can't type the words on this forum. Maybe back in the 70's, but internet forums weren't so big back then.

Words are words, and choosing to be offended by the words of another person who is not trying to offend you sounds like a choice poorly made. ;)

That said, this Scott guy can play, clearly, but definitely has the "Bro" thing working overtime, and the "youtube presentation tricks" that tend to ruin most content and make youtube mostly unwatchable for very long are increasingly prevalent in his videos.

I can usually watch one, maybe two, and I'm out for another couple of months.

I agree that the videos are getting a little too hyper and gimmicky but I guess you do what you have to do in order to get someone's attention. I'd prefer if he took it down a notch but he is attempting to market something and if it's working then why would he change it. Maybe he's got a sponsorship from a good espresso company? :woot:

I watched some of his video's and enjoyed them, but his video about the Fodera where he dropped the "G.D." bomb a few time turned me off. So I do not watch his video's anymore. You guys enjoy, I watch others now.
Scott Devine is from Yorkshire where they're very straight talking. But beside that, in the UK(which I believe he still resides) nobody would bat an eyelid and the term is widely spoken in everyday speech, and it definitely wouldn't offend anyone. Most people here are staunchly secular.

I suppose whatever is said, someone in the world is always going to take offence because of the difference in cultures. Perhaps "carrots" means "I P on your grave" in some remote South Pacific island language, so the C word is definitely a word to avoid saying.

It all comes down to intent.

People should be free to live life how they want to. I doubt Scott meant any offense by it. His choice of language might offend a number of people and likely not offend a good number of others as well. Ultimately, did he choose his words to cause harm? No, so live and let live.

My wife and I have watched the Finnish detective series "Bordertown", AKA "Sorjonen". There's an episode in which a Finnish atheist detective tells a visiting German Christian detective, "You're almost as atheist as me; I don't believe in 500 gods and you don't believe in 499."
That's a great series and my Finnish wife and both looked at each other laughed. I love the Finnish language.
