While I'm not the biggest "boutique" bass fan in the world (save for MTDs, Conklins and Foderas), I gotta admit - THAT is a BEAUTIFUL bass!

Hey 7 - don't worry those last few weeks seem like another 8-10 months :D :hiding: :hiding: :D

Well lots being going on in my world since the New Year.

Got my hands on a Deep Impact - that is one seriously cooooolllll pedal :cool: :cool:

Also got this pic back from Scott on my Fretless project. I'm loving the fretlines thats pretty much looking how I planned. I'm also loving the slight cutaway on the upper bout to show some Mahogany. My only concern is if there is enough contrast between the flamed maple neck and the Birdseye Maple body. The purpleheart stringers are going to be a bit more pronounced which will help I think. Any thoughts out there?

Hey Paddy - yeah, this month's really dragging !!

To go off-piste for a second, we got a puppy on Christmas Eve, so she, and our other 2 dogs, have had most of the attention for Christmas/New Year. Anyway, she'll have to grow a lot to catch Matthew's (S.O.C. member #1) HUGE Pyrenean Mountain Dog (or some equally massive breed if I recall correctly !!).

I didn't catch the Robbie gig, usually I try to watch any live stuff even if I don't really like the music to be a nerd and see what gear they're using....ahem...

Love the graphic of the fretless. The lines in the centre of the board are wild. I've NEVER seen a bass with lines like that... Where did the idea come from ??

If you do want some contrast on the reverse, how about having a totally different facing on the back, or having the birds eye stained...

i like it, and i guess the thing to remember is that the bass will look very different when its done. but we all get the idea of what you are after from that, be cool to see it all done in 8 or so months

Looking good, I presume they are blue leds on the side of the neck and not nasty raised bumps :D

Puppies rule! well she does in my house anyway, 10 months old and 7+stone in weight. Anyway way to go on a new one, what breed etc and do you have any photo's yet. We will have to start a new club, the Sei owners and dog owners club. a nice short and memorable name.

Dogs - I just kicked my 2 legged one out a few months ago :hiding: :D :bawl:

Howie and I were just doodling at work, banding some fretline ideas about and that just came out - I think it could work well. Will see. As I say my only concern is the back of the bass and whether it needs breaking up a bit.

Point noted about the final instrument looking different Bob. I'll talk to Martin re a different wood on the back plus maybe dying it - interesting ideas chaps thanks...

Matthew - She's a Rottweiler and we've named her Luna. My parents have a Rotty and she's the nicest, calmest dog they've ever had. We're being very strict with Luna's training as she's growing fast already !! Real cute, lively pup !!

Paddy -Mine left me to go live at different kennel :bawl: The dog then left her to go and live at a different kennel :D

All - Whilst I'm here need some help, please !! There's a thread on this and other forums about an Overwater which some 16 year old's parents have just paid £3k for him. On it he has a direct XLR out...

Do any of you guys have any experience of an XLR out on a bass and how handy are they ?? Seriously thinking of having one fitted to my Sei after seeing it. Might be handy for recording (eg. not having to find a DI box or use a head with that function on it) :confused:

I have a Wal jack + balanced DI socket on my fretless 7. When I owned Wals in the past I found this set up to be very good. Pete Stevens was more than happy to supply Martin with the socket for my bass.

This set up obviously gives me the DI out but it also allows me to split my signal with the jack going to one place and the DI socket another.

Thanks Matthew..Another midnight-oil burner I see !!

I was hoping that I would be able to split the signal, but didn't know how having a XLR would work. I have my home studio and having a balanced line out would mean a lot less hassle.

I'll have a word with Martin..

It is with much regret that I have some very disturbing news to report. Someone in this club has been a VERY VERY naughty member and as such needs severe disciplining.

Not keeping others up to date with the very latest developments in their Sei world is punishable by public flogging with a B string (.128 gauge)

Far be it for me to name names but if this situation isn't rectified within the next day I will have to take action.

well if your worried about the back not being broken up properly you could just remove the maple back completely, it would definetely look more broken up that way.

Ok, Unaccustomed as I am to public flogging, sorry, speaking, here is my confession:-

I couldn't wait another 7 months witjout a Sei so I have bought a seconf hand one. There, I've admitted it.

Many months ago I narrowly missed getting what I thought was a stunning Sei when it was advertised on the Bass World Forums. I was heartbroken. Imagine my joy when the very same bass appeared on ebay last week. Thanks to a very understanding seller (David in Middlesborough - does anybody know him?) I managed to get it this time. And now I know that it really is stunning and wonderful (in my opinion).

I don't know if that makes me a cheat but I love this bass to bits and in my defence I am still getting my own build in 7 months.

I can't post any photos yet, I will have to get Paddy to show me how.

Anyway, does that mean that my (w) gets removed?
