SEI Waiter

cheers,

i have seen a few photos of Foderas just after finishing and they had no route for the pickups either,

i guess it must be standard practise but i would love to know how they do it, i bet you are real stoked right about now waiting for that bass :bassist:

Amen Brother...

This is my 1st custom bass and I was always a little apprehensive as to how the combination of woods would come together. You have a mental image of what your looking for and boy Martin's delivered.

We spent so much time at the beginning of the project discussing wood combinations, tone etc. It really appears like that time has paid off on the looks front - Good God I am a happy bunny right now :bassist:

I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on her now to see if she plays as good as she looks. Don't panic - I'll bring her down to my mediocre levels :hyper:

Hey Matthew - all good things to those who wait

DragonLord (good name) - have you got any specs mapped out yet? They are great guys to deal with and they will look after you. They have to be to have put up with me. Now what on Earth would a Dragon want with a Horny Rabbit :hiding: ;)

Bob - Alex's response was 'Why would the routing ruin the finish?' so it's fair to say that not having the routing done pre-finish is a non-issue :D :D

Haha - well it's gonna be a flamboyant headless, most probably a fiver. Woods and pickups/electronics are to discussed with Martin when I get there, I want a full, fat, growly but still with clarity sound. I'm sure they'll take care of it.
I'll also ask for a recessed body (streamer-style), a zero fret, a ramp, wooden knobs, passive/active switch, side markers and I'd love to see if they can do an exotic fingerboard, maybe with two colors... We'll see. Anyway, if any of these features makes the price go to crazy levels it will naturally be left off..

OK kiddies - time for some pure self indulgence I'm afraid :scowl:

Popped in on Saturday for a cuppa and a chat and here are a load more photos. The fretboard still needs work but this thing is absolutely beautiful :hyper:

In the headstock shot you may notice 2 little blemishes - that's nothing to worry about as they will go when the machine heads go in.

As for the routing - apparantly they can just do it in the normal way and there won't be any flaking or chipping, simple as that.

BTW the muppet holding the bass is my drummer who I took along for an education in what constitutes a proper instrument.:D

That looks truly fantastic.

As an owner of a Sei 6 string flamboyant, I know that you'll be really happy with it when it's finished.

I'm going in tomorrow to order my new bass, another 6 string. A single cut this time, it'll be my first proper custom bass, the others that I've owned have all been bought used.

It's going to be a long 10 months.

This message may arrive late, but best of luck tomorrow. Even going through all the options and woods is a great experience. Oh, and the waiting isn't too bad....!!
