SEI Waiter

matthewfoote said:
Are you sure you ordered a Sei or have you just been pulling our collective leg.
Rumbled....

Check the sig kiddies - I am a waiter no more :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

I've just got back from the boys who (as always) made me feel really welcome.

It's been 8 months and 1 day since I placed the order. Alex took my baby out of the case and christ she is gorgeous. Absolutely stunning. Perfect in every way and just how I'd planned. Martin had put on some Black control knobs but these were quickly replaced with gold. I'm looking at her now - :smug:

Plugged her into a rig, set everything flat on both bass and rig. Finally got to hear her and she sings. The setup is spot on.

I always feel really self conscious playing in a store so am now putting some time in.

More feedback, sound clips & pics to follow very shortly.

Pics will have to wait till tomorrow now - I am afraid. :o

Been playing this thing ever since I got home, can't put it down. Also phoned the drummer and dissapeared over there for a couple of hours jamming.

This thing is awsome. Just begs to be played, the setup is absolutely on the money. Tonewise I wanted fingerstyle groove with growly mids - this delivers big time. The smallest boost on the mid knob and it outgrowls the Warwick :hyper:

Going to setup the rig and try it at volume tomorrow - another report then.

Happy, happy days :D :D

I'm useless at taking photos and these don't do any justice but heres a first batch - this thing sounds lovely.

Having problems recording but will get some clips shortly.

Absolutely fantastic !!!

Never fails to amaze me how the control cavity is cut from the facing. You hardly notice it and it also shows the craftmanship involved.

Also love the fact that the strap button is behind the upper horn, keeps the lines really clean.

One question, what was the case like ??

Thanks 7

These photos just don't do any justice whatsoever. I'll experiment properly tomorrow.

It came with a Ritter Classic gig bag. I did get a hiscox liteflite as well - didn't want to trust it all to a gig bag. The bag seems well padded and very secure - as gig bags go its good. Just wanted the extra security that's all.

Paddy

Those photo's are great. The madrone comes through really nicely and suits the off set flamboyant body style very well. As 7string says, the way Martin cuts the cavity and battery covers from the facing is amazing and just adds a touch of pure class to the whole build.

By the way can you reming me what pickups and pre you went for in the end and what neck shape.

Any way, it looks fantastic and well worth the wait. I look forward to any sound clips that you do.

Regards

Matthew

Now to get the beers in for the England game!

:hyper: Congrats on a killer bass. I was on a flying visit to London this weekend and the Gallery was my first port of call, straight out of the airport. What a great shop and such nice guys. I was a first time customer but Martin still gave a discount on the preamp I bought. Was good to see his workshop as well.
I love the way that every bass in there, from the Seis, that killer Alembic and those Foderas all the way to the cheaper basses are so well set up. Light years ahead of anything on Denmark Street. Enjoy your bass:)

Paddy

I very much like your new Sei...very tasty!!

Good build times as well, all done within 8 months. I suspect I will have a rather longer time of torture...serve me right for placing the order I did ( :rollno:  ).

Gawd - I'm on the list now too - sheer madness...anyway just thought I'd join this thread as well.

Paddy - your bass rocks - I'm not the biggest fan of that body shape but just because I prefer brunettes over blonds doesn't mean to say I can't appreciate pure beauty when I see it - in other words, that's a gorgeous bass - and the workmanship is just awesome. So glad that thing rocks your world...

See y'all soon
