I'm amember of social media site called Quora. It's one of those free for all sites; religious and political fanatics, gun advocates, just plain crazy folks, and trolls galore. Also a lot of pretty good contributors. Today I came across a thread titled....

The weasel is trolling. Anyone who was so obnoxiously arrogant that they would live by a principle as absurd as that wouldn’t be asking for affirmation or advice from a bunch of plebes on Quora.

So many of the "questions" on Quora are clickbait from people trying to monetize it. So you get things like: "my new boyfriend spanks my 12 year old daughter's bare bottom, should I be concerned?" or "my 14 year old son filled his room with Trump posters, should I make him take them down?" or "I caught this band's guitarist using a capo so I told them to fire him" and of course they get thousands of clicks and angry responses.

The way to deal with a troll is to have nothing at all to do with them. Don't even call them on their trolling.

I agree that the 'producer' is probably being a troll,
but if he's not...

I'd refuse to work with someone that doesn't know the difference between a "crutch" and a tool. ANYTHING can be used creatively. And (in the guitar world) a capo is the most basic of tools.

I wouldn't want to work with that "producer". I wonder what he would say about Django's technique - would he refuse to work with someone who didn't use one finger per fret? What would he think of Tony Iommi using finger prostheses? If Jimi plays a right handed guitar upside down, should he be kicked out of the band? What about a bassist who occasionally does a thumb over?

Personally I hate guitar players using capos too. However I doubt the "producer" can hear the difference of a player banging out open chords with a capo anyway.

As a producer I'd rather have a part played well with a capo compared to a poor performance without one.

Once again proving that people need to stop listening with their eyes. LOL
