[sfx] user appreciation society

It will depend on whether the pedal is a custom order, or whether he's working on a batch of the same model, plus any delays caused by the local Customs office. I would suggest emailing him for a turnaround time estimate based on the item you are ordering.

A couple of months would not be out of line.

How would you describe the micro black dragon, and does anyone here know how come it's no longer on the site?
Are the SFX units really utilizing the really high grade components and are they really as well made as I have read claimed?
:)

The construction quality is absolutely first rate.
+100. Max at [sfx] does some of the nicest work I have seen.
I used to work on McIntosh and Crown gear in the 70's and it is the only work I have seen that comes close to the level of detail Max puts on his work. Custom circuit boards, top quality components. Max even shrink wraps the solder points.

Anyone here got experience with the micro black dragon?
...and possibly a mini review/ sound clips?
That would be highly interesting( to me...:) )

I am going to own one of those little pedals in the not too distant future, just not sure which one.
Is there going to be other effects coming out too, from SFX in this format ?

Slight Deja vu here ....

You should probably take a listen to these clips recorded by Mark Latimour which are explained in detail here. You want tracks 4 and 8 for the Black Dragon. There are Red Dragon clips there too.

I'd hesitate to describe the Black Dragon much myself since I'm pretty new to dirt boxes ... but there's plenty of chat about the relative merits of the various pedals in the thread linked above.

Deja Vu indeed I guess :) .
I was hoping for something focusing on the bd a bit more than just the 2 clips, but will go to that thread now once more.
Thanks!

I am considering a few pedals from sfx. I wish I had discovered them sooner!

My first question is on the micro thumpinator. I play mostly praise and worship and create some ambient / pad sounds to fill space on slow songs or on transitions with my pog2. So this is creating some serious low end notes that are not all that audible in my avatar 4x10 but do come out, to a degree, through the house subs (different sizes depending on the gig.) My questions are does the pog2 have something built in to it to prevent damage like the thumpinator? If not would it be possible to use the thumpinator to protect my cab but still sending those lower freq to the house?

second is I need a sound clips specifically for the big beautiful bass if there out there.

The POG does not have any subharmonic cut filter. The question is, are the sounds you're talking about really below 30 Hz? Not that you should be expected to know off hand, but that is what will answer the question of whether the Thump will be useful to you.

You can rout the Thump to just your onstage cab by putting your DI box first, then the Thump going into your amp's main input. Or if you use the amp's DI, then set it to pre-EQ and stick the Thump in the effects loop.

That's a bit of a disappointment but not really surprising given what we've heard before about Max's workload/backlog. I'm guessing the same reasons may be behind the disappearance of the black dragon too. I feel lucky to have one of those now.

Really getting into the Red Dragon, now ... just on the edge of breakup is how I like it.

Not like there aren't enough excellent comp choices out there, although a micro size [sfx] would be sweet.

Only an SFX microcomp would properly complete this board: :)

I think the BMC would get the boot for an incoming micro-comp.

Good to know Max is keeping busy.

Of course :)
