SG & EB Bass Club

That's not an answer to my question. What do your eyes pick up as different?

The bridge mini-humbucker, yes - one rail and a set of poles. Obviously different.

But the SG neck pickup has a pair of rails, just like the TBird pickup. The SG rails are spaced a little bit farther apart. That's the only difference I see.
Isn't the SG neck pickup a sidewinder?

It is most definitely not.

The original EB pickup was a sidewinder.

But the current SG pickup is a normal dual-coil rail pickup.

:confused:You're right. With the exception of the physical size, shape, location on the bass, number of winds on each coil, drastically different coil spacing, four exposed poles, and completely different resistance values they are identical. o_O

Physical size is different, yes. You don't need magnetic paper to tell you that. Same with location on the bass. That's a huge factor regardless of pickup design.

And the magnetic paper doesn't tell you anything about the number of winds on the coil or the resistance values.

Which just leaves the coil spacing and pole/blade pattern, along with magnetic field shape (and maybe strength?), which are the only things the magnetic paper does tell you.

And in these respects the pickups are very similar.

I can't find my SG pickup. I might have sold it or binned it since I hated its tone so much. But I'm pretty certain that the four screws in the center are not functional, merely decorative.

I'm not a pickup expert, but I would think the coils and blade magnets being further apart would create a sonic difference. Assuming that center piece with the pole pieces doesn't really do anything, the strings are being "sensed" at 2 points further apart.

I don't have new SG pickup. Does a string get louder when you raise the pole piece?

That's what I want-or a copy.
Going price for a real one was $200 5 years ago. Which is what I sold an original '67 bridge'bucker for. I'd bet prices have gone UP! I do have some Allparts copies. Funny enough they're not the same!
 
Secured a order of EB0 chrome covers for our EB0 offerings. They should be here in about 4 weeks. It took a while and some nudging to get the sales manager to let some of these go for sale. Factory chrome covers for Neo EB0 , Alnico versions , SF / Ceramic powered or Alnico 5/Neodymium magnet mix options. 4 connection wiring for coil splitting on designs with enough winds to split
