I've had mines, pick up by chance 2nd hand.

There's a few of us here in the UK that praise them,others just don't know what they're
missing well until they play one. I got mines because of the Bass Maniac thing, never saw
one but bought Washburns that if not copies certainly were influenced by them.

No need to tell you to enjoy it, you can't help but do that.

Once again congratulations on being so lucky or was it just fate.

Thanks kodiakblair, sometimes you just are in the right place at the right time. In my opinion, this is a top notch instrument. I thought that I might change out the pickups based on what I had read in other posts, but the stock pups are just fine. The sound is clean and full with just the right amount of growl!

I'm gonna rack up some hatred here, not only for resurrecting an old thread, but because I took a jig saw and router to mine. Turned it from a right to a lefty. I cut the horn off and really attached it to the other side, made a new new cutaway for m'lefty self. ... gotta take some pix..

NICE thread. I so wanted one of these back in the day. I remember playing a couple at various music stores as a kid and not wanting to let them go.

I circled these for a while when I started building out a stable of basses in my adult life and not too long ago they could be found for a song. Alas, I think I missed the boat. These don't seem to come up much anymore because people clearly don't want to let them go.

Anyway, as one who loves all basses Japanese, this thread makes me smile.

Here's some pictures of it after I cut it apart and made it a lefty. It was apparently an SB301. Just played it for the first time on 5 years. Still in tune, and battery still good. Nice mmmmwwahhh sounds on it. I took the stock SGC pickup out and put it my Japan E series jazz, and put a samick in had lying around. Maybe I'll start playing it again

Here is my offering. Before and after I put the gold hardware on. It's an active SB 310 in orange sunburst. I first picked one up in Dougies Music store
Northwich UK back in early 90's. I was purchasing my first Status bass at the time (An all graphite 2000 model) From memory the BC was about £500
and I was blown away by the quality and lightness of it. I still purchased the Status and forgot all about the BC for quite a few years. Then I became aware of
how cheap good second hand models were selling for. So I bought this one for about £150 from a guy on the Basschat forum. It's a fine instrument and is worthy
of a price tag upwards of £400 but for some reason they don't sell for very much ?? I love mine, It plays like butter and sounds superb. I advise any bass player
to get one. You won't be disappointed, They are a hell of a lot of bass for little money. ;-)

Sorry for the delay in replying, not been on the forum in ages. I saw a set of Grover gold tuners for sale on Ebay and snapped them up.
Then just trawled the internet for gold bridge & knobs. Bought a brand new Gotoh gold bridge from USA again seen on Ebay then
I think I bought the gold knobs from Amazon. Transformation complete ;-)

Dear SCG Nanyo owners,

I've recently purchased an 1998 Bass Collection By SGC Nanyo model SB460 5 string, with padauk top Made in Japan.

The bass is in almost mint condition apart from some minor dents on the back Maple body.
The thing is, I'm thinking on upgrading the pickups because I feel that the bass need a stronger sound. It comes with a JJ configuration, and I ask if anyone knows which pickups fit this bass without routing the body.
I'll post some pictures as soon as I get a better quality photos taken.

I got an SB315 a couple of months ago - so taken with it I've just agreed to buy an SB321 off someone on Basschat! It's going to be a couple of weeks before I get the 321, but here's pics of the 315.
