What really gets me about this bass is that it doesn't look like a relic. It looks like a 30 year old, played to death bass. I'd love to see it in person.

As one of the six "non-Fender-lovers" on TB, I have to say that this is one Fender that I would consider owning/playing. I think this is because it's more of a "Franken-Fender" than anything!

The takeaway: The way you make a Fender cool is to make it NOT a Fender!

I agree.. I am not a Fender fan, BUT this bass has been my visual obsession in the bass world, since I first seen it back in the early 90's on a fold out poster from some guitar magazine of Billy.

I feel VERY confident that I found the right builder to bring my dream to life.

I gave John the neck dimensions to closest match the Wife. He said the neck he chose for my clone was super fat and it was a match for a late 60's Tele bass.

1. What's with the screws and washers on the front?
2. Are those working knobs?
3. Is the cavity THAT big in the back that the knobs are all the way up the pickguard?
