I don't think he's said it, but I think building this shape may be a bit like a walk down memory lane for Sheldon. I think he hasn't done this since the switch over to the 'modern' Zebra shape, and maybe it's given some time to re-think some of the features and design. I'm really happy with what I see happening.

I think that the shape is a very cool one and I'm really excited that he agreed to do it for me. It would have been really easy to say 'no' and direct me to a 'regular' Z. To me, the cello cut goes well with the tail curve.

Sheldon and I talked about changing the "cello contour" in the Voodoo design many years ago. While it echos classic stringed instruments as well as the Kubicki Ex Factor, I thought that more people would probably be attracted to a more streamlined shape and that it might lead to more sales. Eventually he decided to move into a more traditional direction, while keeping the curve at the bottom where the jack resides.

As many might know, the Voodoo body style I chose is seldom made these days. This is a detail of the 'point' from the top bout. Now, Sheldon mentioned that past 'classic' Voodoo basses DON'T have any arm route. They were radiused but no carve for the right fore arm! Thankfully he decided to give it a shot on mine.

Isn't that a nice curve? Just because the shop used high quality, high precision CNC doesn't mean that there isn't a TON of hands on stuff going on too, like this. I think its a very cool thing, and I really like how the edge where the curve meets the 'cello cut' that line is really beautifully sculpted.

Very interesting. I can see why it wouldn't be appealing to traditionalists, but I'm a fan of both classic curves and more progressive ideas too! I'm very glad I asked for this shape.

The top is beautiful. I'm very interested to see how the finish works with the wood and if it brings up the flame or if it remains subdued. Of course, there's not much understatement in this bass, so you can guess what I'd like to see! ;)

Exactly. My AB still sounds amazing to my ears, and I know that this one shares so much of the same territory but with so much more going on too. I have no fears or doubts.

I'll be happy to do some takes with it once its in my hands! The only thing that makes me nervous is its maiden voyage across the continent in the hands of a callous shipping company!

There are a few nice little tweaks that Sheldon is 'working on' for this that may or may not hit the options list...depending upon the amount of time/materials/etc. that it takes. We'll see! It would be cool if they did!
