When you have to take the neck off of the body, buy bubble wrap, bubble wrap the neck and body, find a box to fit the body and neck in ....that is "going out of the way" as opposed to just leaving it assembled and shipping it in a case. I also had to cut a box down twice because of size restrictions, which equals multiple trips to the post office.

Isnt this the reason that there is an International For Sale section in the classifieds?

I have shipped basses all over the world and have bought basses from all over the world and have never had to alter the way i pack a bass. It's the same if it's local or international and my basses get to where they need to go within a week, anywhere in the world (i use DHL).

From what i understand USPS bought in some size restrictions, so don't use USPS. Use FEDEX, UPS, DHL etc. The buyer covers shipping costs so only offer these couriers, if they don't want to pay $300 shipping then no deal.

it's all about feedback! :D

I've shipped plenty of stuff everywhere and never had a problem. Of course the shipping fees go to the buyer. I pack stuff to survive 30 or 3000 miles.

I don't however know exactly how shipping overseas work in US and if it's a lot of trouble. So if shipping internationally creates extra hassle for the seller, I think 50-100 dollar compensation for the troubles is not unreasonable at all, especially when dealing with people you don't know. In fact, I much rather put extra 150 for the seller to feel good and get every piece of packaging material available. It's not like people would have 200 dollar basses shipped from US anyway..

good idea!...thank you

so now I can say this form Link Removed was (probably) working becouse no extra duties for US customs...so if you send US product back to USA use this form ...hope it will work every time.

Also I have to split with my other experience. My SKB which I send back to USA arrived successfully. Well it was 3 weeks on the way! (same as my LG I get 2 years ago from US) O.K. it is long time and I was pretty nervous but it's there...I fully understand people who think that shipping overseas can be extra work or extra problems...but I think (even day after ;) ) it's not that bad.

..peace Wimpy

old debate but i will put in my opinion.

I have done some deals overseas and I think that some of them were CONUS only:) it was all about that I ensured the seller that I pay every shipping/packing and extra costs. If the answer was no, It came often with the reason "sorry, I had some bad experience with overseas deals". I accept that at all. It is my duty to accept the seller. But the reaction was often like "ok, if you pay any extra costs, I will ship it to you without a problem".

I know that there are dull buyers who think that price includes every costs and they do problems when they realize how much is actualy tax when the package arrives to them or so, but this can be easily solved during the communication. I know there are XYZ cases, issues and problems when dealing overseas and as it was mentioned before - good and bad people live anywhere in the world.

But I think that Wimpy only tries to say that there are ways how to live and deal together and some obstacles are only because people (often on both sides) don´t have proper information what is overseas shipping all about. nobody is telling that EVERYONE must sell EVERYWHERE.
