If you were to try a new p/u, would you want to move it around from one bass to the next? I reckon that's pretty easy w/ your BP-100.
If you want to continue to experiment with that pickup, I like Jamie's suggestion of getting the Fishman Pro-EQ Platinum Bass unit as a first step. I have not tried one, but based on what I've learned, it will probably make the BP-100 sound as good as it possibly can with the 10 Mohm input. Also gives you EQ, a low cut filter, phase reversal, and a DI out. Will work with any other pickup you might try later. And like he said, if you want to sell it later, you can probably recoup at least some of what you spent for it.
If however the various amps you typically use have adequate EQ and a DI out, then I would recommend the HPF-Pre instead, again as a first step. Fifty bucks. Same critical 10 Mohm input for coaxing the magic out of the BP-100. I appreciate my HPF-Pre more every time I use it.
Finally, when you want to check out some other p/u's, get on over to see Bob K. Like Bob I have fit several Rev Solos, and I like the way it sounds on my bass better than the Bass Max, the Double Big Twin, the Planet Wing, or the Schertler DYN-B that I tried. Your bass(es) and your tastes may vary.
