It is a brand new 2020 MIM Prescision, limited edition color.

You have a hard to find bass you like that has a minor cosmetic issue that could be easily fixed by anyone even remotely handy with tools. I don't see why you choose to return it.
MIM Fenders are not cheap. The QC should better, but it's not. I'd still opt to do Fender's job for them and have a nice bass in the end.
Yeah, out the door (free shipping) it was $755. Definitely not cheap in my eyes. Lol
IANA luthier, but from the pic I'd guess there's some paint buildup in the neck pocket.
If it were mine and I loved everything else about it, I'd take the neck off and give a look. I think that might be what's keeping the neck from sitting tight to the bottom of the neck pocket. If so, I'd grab my razor scraper (the tool used for getting paint spatters off window glass) and take my time shaving the thick paint off the pocket--taking real good care not to chip the paint from the edge of the body.

I'd return it because I'm not a fan of the color.
I have experience modding neck pockets so if it was a color I like I might take the few minutes to square off the corner, however, I'd most likely take the easier method and round off the corner of the neck heel to fit the pocket.
Forgot to say...
A third option would be to install a flat shim that's thick enough to even out the contact. It would work but it wouldn't be as pretty.

I probably wouldn’t. If the bass sets up and stays in tune fine, you may have trouble winning a dispute.
If it was the last in that color, which is pretty cool BTW, and I really liked it I would at least explore the option of repairing it. Either myself or a luthier. If it is easily available it would go back.

I thinking I’m going to reach out to the seller and see if they have another one in stock in this color. If they don’t, I might try to fix it myself with a file or find a local luthier to do it so I know it’s being done right.
