Today's "Kold and Dry KipKast"...brought to you by the Makers of the much-loved Wormbass.
The weather here in the Northeast has just become a Bass Destroyer. To those in Warm Climates, the past few days here in the Northeast have bounced between Zero and 15 degrees F and Humidity levels have dropped through the Floor. For ALL bassists please pay very close attention to the Humidity status in your home or studio as very dry air can easily cause the finish on your beloved bass to crack and your frets to Sprout like Blossoms in the Spring. Many assume those "flaws" to be something which came from the factory that way. That's not the case. Should you not have a Hygrometer or two in your home or studio, I strongly recommend that you grab one today. Next, purchase as many Quality Humidifiers (fan, not steam) as you can afford and place them in your music room or wherever your basses/guitars are kept. I have 5 humidifiers in my studio and NEED 5 in order to keep the humidity level at 32-35% ...... There ya' have it......
Kipp's Bonus Tips! During my 12 years of training Chain Store Employees I'd often climb the ladder to where the most expensive basses were hung. Readings of 7 to 9% weren't uncommon and I could hear the basses screaming in pain. Don't be a Mister Bungle, Humidity Levels are Critical to bass Upkeep.
