Should I send it back? Opinions, please!

My wife got me a wonderful Squier CV 50s P bass for Christmas. Been playing it for a few hours the past 2 days and have fallen in love with it!

Last night I decided to give it a nice cleaning and discover a blem/imperfection on the fretboard. It's not even noticeable from a couple feet away but I can barely feel a very slight "dip" in the wood where it is located. I also discovered a tiny, tiny blemish on the body (this really doesn't bother me) and some minor wear marks on the control plate.

What do you guys think and have you ever seen a "mark" that looks like this on a fretboard?

I appreciate any suggestions, opinions or advice.
Bad manufacturing. If you don't send it back because you didn't do it you will grow to hate it and it will always be there every time you pick it up

Nope. I'm cool with it. Plays, sounds and feels great. The only thing I was concerned with was if that "blem" might get worse. Since it's coated under fretboard lacquer, it should be fine. If not... I'll buy another bass.

Front View......as Requested by Captain Kipp of the Starship Squierprize. Brand New ....just out of the Box. Just a couple of minor dents and scratches...must have happened during shipping....but I don't mind cuz the PUP Covers are still pretty Shiny.

Looks like a Stock photo, can you upload one of your own taken images ?

After reading 13 pages of your constant complaints about everything on earth...often followed by "DOH" in order to make the OP feel like a dope and causing me to giggle like a schoolgirl at your cruelty, I knew you'd be back....your Ego demands it. :) Your saving grace is that you like Bongos.....and your recent purchase of a Hofner.....both fine basses.

Knocking Ged at length wasn't the best post you've put up....kinda' lacked Class as he's a friend....as was Jon..... I don't do stuff like this often (I think this is #2) but if it helps you to understand that the World doesn't revolve around You.....and that Kindness and helping others trumps Ego every time....I'll lay my cards down once. Your Turn Master Briton.

I humbly beg the Forgiveness of all others on TB and in this thread......but Egomaniacs make my intestines roll. And now back to what Matters....... Captain Kipp and his Merry Friends. Happy New Year to All.

I really don't know what you are talking about Buddy? When I have replied to the OP I have asked a normal question and not disrespected him in any way. We are still waiting for your image of that road worn Bass mate that you got for Christmas!

You're a Beauty, Brit..... "Buddy"? I think not.....And who are/is the "WE" you speak of? WE is YOU. LOL :) The Bass I used as an example/ilustration is known as a "Heavy Relic"....not a "RoadWorn". The Relic series was brought about by a couple of Artists, Don Was, Keith Richards and Eric Clapton among them, who didn't want to bring their valuable "Faves" on tour/the road, so they came to the Custom Shop, then headed by John Page, and asked that we make some instruments which appeared used but were new and less valuable.....if stolen they were easily replaced. We went to a luthier by the name of Vince Cunetto who had a shop in Tennessee and he built some fabulous pieces. They each showed slight signs of aging like My Cunetto bass shown here. This bass was from the early batch that Vince sent us.

Relics became popular rather quickly but then, as happens in so many areas of life, what started as a good idea with a purpose went (IMHO) totally out of control. Fender and Vince parted ways and Fender began cranking out its own "Relics". Smack an instrument with a hammer and screwdriver a few times, use a bit of sandpaper and ship it. How do I know that was the process used? I was there. I saw it. It was sad. :woot: Did the C.S. get better at Relicing? Yup....there were and are some incredible builders there ....and then, again IMHO, Relics went way beyond the world of being believable.... like the one I used in the Kipp pic above.

Here's my Fender C.S. Cunetto......a Fabulous Burgundy Mist bass which I love the way Kipp loves his. My Cunetto and his Squier are equally valuable. No difference in value at all. ;) So briton. Take your never-ending Constant Complaints to someone who cares......cuz I certainly don't. And in the future I'd suggest that you do your own homework.

I only read the first page.

If I had some special bond with this particular instrument, I'd keep it and fix it. Functionally, it's an easy fix.

If I didn't have a special bond with this particular instrument, I'd exchange it.

Pretty simply, ya?
