It's real as far as I can tell. Looks like a mexico standard, basically whats player series now. They now go for about 1000$ new. If its in good condition I'd be on it for 400. Try to talk him down a bit. I see some fret wear, but nothing major. I don't have a lot of experience with mexico fenders from that era, except one I had in which the soldering was shoddy AF. That might have been an exception tho. Try it, play it, and if it feels and sounds good, offer him 350 and meet in the middle at 400.

I was trying to get him to trade me I have a Wentz fall out bass that I was hoping he would be interested in

Seems like a good price at $440.00. If you're doing paying gigs, you'll have it paid off easy. If not, buy it because you want it and want P-bass tones.
I'm still new and learning but I like options. I have an ibanez srx2ex1 that I really like but I keep hearing p basses that have a totally different sound that I also like. The wentz bass is ap but just doesn't have what I really like. I have a bronco also and I think it sounds better than the Wentz

Never tried the wentz bass. Don't like the band personally either But that thing could possibly get collectible, idk. I have a tendency to hold on to anything limited myself. Go for it man, it's a decent Pbass at a decent price. Get a nice tort guard and you're set

If every solder joint in a P bass is crappy, and needs to be re-done, it’s about 5 minutes work. Half of that is waiting for the soldering iron to heat up.
I’d be in at $400, and I wouldn’t allow myself to be annoyed by the fret sprout police.
Drive a hard bargain! Complain that you gotta get the sticker off! I believe in you buddy, you can do this!
If I was looking for a P bass, I'd buy it and leave the sticker because I am into cat worship
I noticed after close inspection is that the factory baked in fret sprout looks to have been corrected.
The new ones are $850 now, I rarely see used for under $500 anymore. I like the color, and the kitty. Green light for me, you have my blessing
