Show me your Alembics

...and you had the neck pickup installed the right way, butted up against the neck; AND you're playing it through a Bag End. Sweet!
Now there's a guy who recognizes the right way to do things! Don't you have the neck pu on that graphite small standard Series up close to the neck? I don't slap enough to justify moving it away from the the neck and I like the bass, well, bassier. (BTW, the Bag End's an ELF - the low end of the gods). :D

I said this over on the Alembic site, but I LOVE the walnut on myrtle without any accent lams- very cool.

Your bass helped push me over the edge on the decision for my custom- maple on mahogany- no accent lam.

Yes, the neck pickup is placed there on both of my Alembics, which helps a lot when I feel like playing dub or when the neighbors need to be punished for rearranging their furniture too late at night. What do you think of the myrtle core? Is it as light as they say? How's the balance with the walnut neck?

The myrtle is definitely lighter than my mahogany core Alembics have been. Of course, with all the brass hardware, access plates, bridge block, no Alembic is light (compared to basses in general). The balance seems to tip slightly toward neck-heavy, but I tend to wear my basses high and use a broad, suede-backed strap, so I haven't really noticed any slippage yet (Once I get through a couple of hours of rehearsal, I'll know better). I don't sense it'll be a problem for me. :bassist:

I've since changed the strings, it's wearin' TI Flats now.

I have a '98 Orion with a vermillion top. I see by this thread that most of you guys have higher end Alembics than this, but this bass plays like butter and sounds so good that I have given up my ''66 Jazz. I also have an Ibanez previously outfitted with the Alembic P/J style pups and electronics. I am planning to use these alembic pups and electronics on a custom build.
