Show me your Alembics

Sometimes the serial number on the fret board can be erased when a fret job is done and the board is sanded down.

Yeah, the s/n on my '79 was so worn that I had to lay a tissue on the fret and rub softly with a pencil to see the number.

I've been drilling holes in my fretless bass and upgraded her to Signature electronics

Some day (when I learn to play fretless) I'll post some soundclips.

Hey FC - love the spalt finish on your Alembic! Are those Optima strings you are using? I've tried the Optima 5 round wound string set on a couple of my basses and love them but haven't tried them on my Alembic yet.

Sorry missed this...
I've had Optima strings because they look neat on this bass, she's strung with R Cocco strings now (my favorite strings for the Alembics)

Some pics with the Optima strings:

Thought I had posted this previously but I guess not...
Here's my 2005 Dragon Wing, a fairly rare bird as far as Alembics go. It's Cocobolo on Mahogany with an Ebony board and Maple Purple heart neck (who says woods don't matter). It has the Anniversary electronics and red LEDs. Looks, plays, feels and sounds fantastic. This one's my studio bass...

Looking for some recommendations on a low tension round wound nickel string set for her, any ideas?

PS - I also have an nice Alembic Essence I use outside the studio. Pics to be posted soon.

I feel your pain, sold an Alembic once... (traded a '83 Spoiler for a Gibson)

I traded two Alembics for my first custom Zon Special 5 fretless Sonus bass in '97. Was very much worth it, although I wouldn't mind getting another Alembic, preferably one with chrome plated parts so I won't have to do my monthly strip-down and Brasso routine to shine them up; what a PITA.
