Show me your compact pedalboard setup

IIRC Pedaltrain has a configurator on their site.

Indeed. I asked here because I don't know what to substitute each of the aforementioned pedals with, since they don't appear on said configurator.
I'll likely end up just taking cardboard cutouts the size of the pedals to the shop, or the pedals themselves, but figured people can ballpark it.

At any rate, thank you for the input everyone.

Or, just line em up on the floor and measure. Be sure to leave room for cables/connections.

I mostly use a larger board, but when stage space gets tight, I carry this one. With room for an interchangeable effect

Flip the Subway vertically. Like what I'm doing here with the Olympic.

But yeah. It might be tight.

I’m seeing more and more of these shift line pres. What is everybody’s thoughts on these guys? They sound good online but I’ve yet to see one in the wild.

Can anybody comment on how they stack up to something like a noble? I’ve played one of those before and want to pick one up, but the shift line price is much more realistic at this time for me.

Nice board btw!!

Shift Line - Olympic MkIII Tube Bass Preamp

You will find all you want to know in this thread about the Olympic, including some comparisons to the Noble.

For me it is a fantastic tube pre combined with great cab sims and a high quality headphone and aux in setup that makes it perfect for silent practice as well as the centrepiece of an amp-less setup.

You might find this helpful, I lost the parent link but it's from a Finnish custom pedalboard maker: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1661/9429/files/PedalboardGrid.jpg?3613576038254739538

If I find that site I'll repost it, they deserve kudos, they got a lot of the boards covered.

Edit - found it: Custom Boards Finland
The Finnish approach to comparing sizes is a good idea.

and this: Home - Pedal Pad™ Pedal Boards

I have been doing this with cardboard cutouts of pedals and boards, it's a lot of work but worth it to me as I want to get this right the first time. What I'm finding is the small boards are too small and the large boards are too big, and there aren't enough medium-sized boards for my criteria.

My OCD won't allow for side-mounting pedals.....

I can tell you that I'm leaning towards an Accel board at this point although I'd prefer a cheaper Voodoo or PedalTrain, or a medium-sized Gator if they made one as I like their color options, but the Accels are cool.

I really like mine although I’ve been frustrated with the very gentle EQ. Have been getting much more success from putting the EQ at “flat” (bass slightly up, mid maxed, treble min) and running other EQ into the front of it - pretty intrigued by the Linden.

I run mine the exactly the same and have just put a Linden in front of it and it sounds amazing! Got me where I wanted to go with the EQ and the Linden actually has quite a lot of tones in with the 2 switches. Super happy with my tone now using the Linden. My primary tone is Hyper Luminal -> Linden -> Olympic -> powered speaker cab (GK MBP112). The Linden is fantastic value for its price!

That’s all I needed to hear, really! Is the Linden good for adding a little Ampegy vibe? And how do find that powered cab? Really keen to go that way myself.

Not sure on the Ampegy vibe as I’m not super familiar with the sound but several others have commented that if nails the EQ vibe of the B-15 pretty close. I’m able to get a nice, dark but punchy and full bass sound out of it which sounds great to me!

Regarding the cab, I initially bought a GK MB110 and got the MBP112 extension cab to add more power and I found it added a lot more bass depth as well. I was using it with the Olympic going into the MB110 (with the signal from the MB110 to the MBP112) but that added an extra EQ and gain stage that I didn’t need. GK actually says that they don’t recommended using their powered cabs with other preamps as they require a very high level signal (+10dbu). I recently tried the XLR out of the Olympic straight into the MBP112 as it was spec’d at +10dbu and it worked great but took away my DI output. I checked the specs again and it turns out the main out was +20dbu so it had plenty of power to push the cab. Got the right cable for it and it worked like a charm. Now I’ve got a nice compact rig with the Olympic as my main preamp and a 200W 12inch powered cab! Works well for me! Sorry for the long explanation/off topic!

That’s what I’ve been thinking after finally reading through the SLO3 thread. Initial plan was picking up a noble eventually and running my tone hammer to it, because I love the hell out of that thing. Would probably do the same with the Shift line if it could be a suitable replacement for the noble.

Alright.. I just downgraded my pedal setup from PT Metro 16 to PT Nano and YES the Cioks DC5 fits perfectly under it without any mods! There was a lot of debate that does it fit? Well it fits and end of the story.

I just ordered Black Cat Bass Octave Fuzz from Fuzzmonster.dk and I cant wait to test it. It’s somekind of copy from the legendary Brassmaster. Maybe I have to get rid of my EH Bass Micro Synth because it won’t fit on the board with the fuzz.. daammn!

But before that this is my setup and I’m really happy with it.

Question for you who actually have pedalboards already -

If you use velcro to fasten your pedals to the board, have you ever had any issues with that method of fastening? Velcro wearing out, pedals falling off, velcro peeling off, issue with the velcro on the pedals, etc?

Some boards are made to primarily use cable ties, which are secure but to me somewhat unsightly, if velcro issues are overrated, I'd prefer to avoid using cable ties.
