Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Just redid this Pedaltrain Nano board by adding the MXR Isobrick Mini instead of a TU3 with a daisy chain and the Wampler Ego Mini instead of the TC Spectracomp. Very nice with clean power and a nice step up in compressor pedals from the Spectracomp which is nice but somewhat limited in comparison.

I have that M81 preamp coming in. Will be the third time I've owned it. I don't know why I got rid of it two other times. IMO it's the best sounding clean preamp out there.

Staleness. That's the reason you got rid of it the previous two times and why you'll sell this third one. Yes, it is SUPER clean...to a fault. I love the concept of a transparent preamp, but in practice...I realize that I actually like a touch of flavor. Sure you can boost and cut frequencies with the M81, but there is some pizazzz missing from the M81 since it does exactly what it is supposed to yet I always found that it felt like I wasn't going through a preamp when I used it. I was using it as my final pre going into a power amp, not just as a sweetener.

I think it’s a great clean preamp that works very well with active basses and passive basses alike. I have several different basses and the M81 works well with all of them. Easy to dial in a great tone.

Swapped out an MXR81 preamp and Catalinbread SFT for the Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra, which is set for just a little bit of hair. I find this their most versatile pedal; it's not just for heavy music. Now I have an extra space on my Nano+ for one more pedal. Common sense tells me delay, but I just never find much bass use for it although I love playing around with it. I'm leaning toward an octave pedal. Or I can just move it all to a Nano board.

I just got a Sub-n-up, and I like it so much I’m buying a mini for earlier in my FX chain.

I will check it out. I actually have been able to create a pretty good patch on the MD-500 (based on the No Latency patch for those that have the MD-500) that does a very good octave down, with no tracking issues. But it has this overtone I can't get rid of because it uses the MD-500's Overtone engine.

True...but you did sell it twice already - was just answering with the most probable reason since there is nothing bad to say about the M81, yet we all seem to get it and part with it and I think the lack of zing is why. Curious your opinions on why you are on your third one (not looking for a massive story, just curious if finances or something more about tonal pref as I cannot find anything wrong with the M81 except that it never got me excited when it was on so curious why anyone else would sell it if not that)

But I've also sold multiple Zoom B3's, Sansamps, VT Basses, etc. It's just a purely my indecisiveness.

Wow, you aren't kidding...I clicked on your threads started and yep...all within a calendar year are several of the same things bought and sold. I'm indecisive too, but usually there are years between selling something and re-aquiring it, not months. So you decide you don't love something and sell it only to realize you miss it and then re-buy it...only to remember why you sold it in the first place and then resell it again? Sounds mentally exhausting, but as long as you are having fun who cares!?

Like the title suggests, I want to see pictures of small tight boards. I own a pedaltrain junior and find it large to move around but I do anyway because I use everything in it for my sabbath tribute gig and some synth rap stuff I'm starting.

However for my punkska band its overkill. Im planning on getting or building a second board and I don't plan on using much more than 3 effects (at most) and for very little of the songs covered. Overdrive that can double as mild distortion, envelope filter and maybe chorus. Are there pedal power supplies smaller than the standard that powers 8 or 9 pedals?

Here's my main board which won't change by the way. I want something atleast half in size in weight, maybe a third would be ideal.

Suggestions and pics please...

The first 15 years I played.... I had none.

Slightly different story now, but still in transition.

I do the same thing as matt does for the exact reasons you describe, sometimes not even months between the iterations. So now I try to hang on just a little beyond when the new thing comes in, to really decide if the old thing is not as good...
