Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Compact by definition, small by my standards, & sounds absolutely amazing!

You posted in the wrong thread (it is not compact as the OP defined it 🤨) .
Respectfully speaking, i posted this board alot of times before in this thread. and alot pf people said still compact. theres a difference from a compact board ( all pedals arrange in a compact manner with less spaces) as to oppose to a small/little/nano board that can fit a 5-6 pedals. This has been discussed in this thread alot of times. apologies if im mistaken. Cheers!
That’s not compact, sorry but some of you ruin this thread, you come here to see ideas and inspiration for a compact board project and many many post just don’t belong here.
It may not be small but it's certainly much more compact than 90% of the stuff posted here.
Putting 4 pedals on a board that could fit 8 if utilized properly is the opposite of compact.
Like it or not this board actually fits the dictionary definition of compact quite nicely:

Compact
adjective
1. Closely and firmly united or packed together; dense.
2. Occupying little space compared with others of its type.

Compact
transitive verb
1. To thrust, drive, or press closely together; to join firmly; to consolidate; to make close.
2. To unite or connect firmly, as in a system.
The OP (2012) showed a picture of a PedalTrain Junior and poster said:

"I want something at least half in size in weight, maybe a third would be ideal. Suggestions and pics please..."

Edit: personally I do not mind at all if people post pictures of bigger boards.

What a joyless and pedantic conversation this has been. Invoking the OP's comments from 2012: really, folks? This thread has demonstrably evolved beyond what the OP had in mind and that's something to be celebrated! Most threads don't make it past a page; this has developed into one of the most successful threads on TalkBass. It belongs to the community, not any one member. In that spirit, @darkhalf's board is as compact as they come. No, it is not the smallest sized board, but it's hardly large either: maybe in 2012 it would have been considered large, but this is 2024. The past 12 years have seen significant growth in pedal shapes and usage, and, with that, an analogous growth in board designs and sizes. It's only to be expected that this thread reflects that. Most importantly, as both @MikoFX and @JeffTCS point out, the board @darkhalf posted is indeed compact—and, in fact, a masterclass in pedalboard Tetris.

For what it's worth, I fully agree there are boards posted here that do not meet the definition of compact. The board in question is not one of them.

Joyless, pedantic? Really, you read these postings that way? Just the monthly back and forth about what is compact or not.
Keep posting the oversized boards haha!

Yes, it is the monthly back and forth about what "compact" means. But I do find it joyless and pedantic to cite the OP from over 12 years ago as a current authority and to introduce charges of "ruining the thread" when someone is simply excited to share their board. In order to keep this thread distinct from the other PPYB threads the ambit of "compact" must of course be defined, and debate is naturally how that will happen in a discussion forum like TalkBass :) But there's a difference between genuine debate and overzealously policing/hyperbolic escalation, and I think accusing someone of "ruining the thread" falls into the latter category—especially when the board in question is compact in the truest sense of the word. At worst @darkhalf's board is a grey area and, as such, it should invite further conversation rather than have its bassist become the target of a conversation-ending denunciation.

Here’s a post we can file under “something for everyone, even the cranky folks”

Compact as “dense/tight”, and compact also as “small”. I defy you to tell me this doesn’t meet the entry requirements lol

beautiful combination of pedals here mr sloppy, The omnicomp surely is one of my favorite compressors as well. it can dial that diamond compressor feel and even more. is the upper board omnicimp placement last in the chain too?

Thanks kindly, @darkhalf! I agree, the Omni is a wicked comp. It's last-in-chain on both boards (there's also an AO-HPF underneath both boards just before the Omnis). I try to keep my compression just to peak limiting at the end of the chain, and the Omni does limiting really well while also adding a little hint of colour/tone which I find super pleasing. I liked the Empress a lot too, but it was a little too clean for my taste, whereas the Diamond was almost too much colour. Omni is a perfect middle ground, to my ears :)

Two boards right now. Picked up a small 15” board for a new mini board. Gonna spend some time getting this one ready. Haven’t really had time to dive in.

Have my normal nano+ board I use all the time that has only had minor changes.

The plan is to be able to, when I’m ready, put the stomp on the regular board at times with the Finally, VMT, Cali, and Strobo.

And sub other stuff back and forth. In a good spot so keep the gas to yourself.

The top pedalboard looks like a perfect blend of the Empire and Dark Side ;)

Hi,
i hope this isn't a silly question, but does the new version of the Humbolt have a transformer as the earlier (larger) version? On the website I thought it said it did but wanted to check with a customer. Curious about that one but there aren't any bass video demos.
Thanks!
Brent

Hey Brent— Yes, the new Humboldt has a transformer & it sounds lovely!

The Dakota is the compressor from the OG Humboldt & is the unit that doesn't have the transformer.

+1 here mr miko. the humbolt sounds great and indeed is a secret sauce for Nice pleasing tone. i use my dakota more for my active basses and the humbolt front of chain for my passive basses. i also tried to run them stack and honestly still sounds great.
