Show me your compact pedalboard setup

That is exactly the route I took when looking at the EUNA. I have been using the Skeptical Buffer this year on my core board with an active bass so it shouldn't be needed strictly speaking, but it does still sparkly up the place. Ryan at RCO pedals made a Skeptical Buffer and I use it quite a bit and like it quite a lot as well. It is also an easy build but Ryan had one ready when I reached out.

The Skeptical Buffer gains up the sound and has a baked in EQ in addition to the three EQ switches on top. It does not have a loop or tuner out. It also also does not have the fancy power section of the real EUNA and runs on 9V center neg only.
Sometimes I like using the Low switch on the bass guitar. I almost never have liked the Bright switch on bass but that's just my problem not yours. I also put it first on a dirt board once and I could hear that all of the distortions and fuzzes really appreciated the gain before I even played a note. They became more...distorted sounding and the XLF switch on my Hot Cake clone (Anomaly) suddenly became very bassy.

I only wish I could put it in a smaller enclosure. In that case I would get rid of the foot switch and leave it as always on under the board or out of the way instead of taking an entire pedal slot. It's a utility I like and appreciate.

Edit: Clarification on which device I'm using.
Does the Skeptical have an FX loop like the EUNA (I am not very good at reading schematics…🤣)?

It does not. Nor does it have the 29 "ANY" power section.
The 29 Pedals EUNA does have a loop. They recommend putting fuzz in the loop.

As RCM-Bass has discovered, the Skeptical Buffer can be built with the FX-loop, most pedal-builders opt not to include it.

You can have an FX loop if you want it; you can have a tuner out or direct out if you want it; you could add a cab-sim that feeds a DI...
It's DIY, you build it (or have someone build it for you) the way you want/need it to be.

If I'm not mistaken, the Euna kills the buffer when the FX-loop is activated — since the Euna is recommended to be first in chain, whatever is in its loop is effectively also first in the chain; I think the idea was to have in the Euna's loop an unruly fuzz ie one that doesn't behave well with buffers and wants/needs to be first in chain — problem solved.

If you don't use that kind of fuzz, you could build the Skeptical to keep the buffer on whether or not the loop is engaged.

I was thinking of building a looper with VOLTAGE SAG and a buffer-buster added, that way I can put a troublesome Fuzz anywhere in my pedal-chain without issues, with optional "I Can't Believe It's Not Buffer".

The only thing missing is Darth Vader. 😂😂 Very cool board!

Not the most ultra compact, but it is mighty! Still working out the MIDI bits with the MC6 Pro and some of the Anagram presets, but she's operational.

Signal chain:
  • GLXD16+ (spare battery charger under the Zuul+)
  • Cali76
  • Mini Wah
  • Anagram
  • Zuul+ (in loop)

Powered by a CIOKS DC7 and a Crux with a Temple Audio LED strip.

Great board Chad! No MXR Bass Synth? The C4 won the competition?
I’d say both are good, mxr is great for tweaking on the road. C4 wins for me in terms of mapping all my needed presets via MIDI. I don’t have to cycle through like in mxr.

We play that’s what I like in our function band where I transition from Moog to OC-2 dub sound and I was able to set it up on my MIDI. It’s a better workflow for me. The C4 moog preset I use surprisingly sustains longer before glitching out than my prev mxr.

Can only keep one for now. I hope I can collect more synth pedals in the future though.
