Your bass has a serial number quite near the number of my bass. Mine has S881892. Is it possible that they are made during the same period?(I have had some difficulties trying to date my bass)

I have the advantage of having bought it new... so I know roughly when it was made (most likely January 77). Its difficult to say since the serial number ranges spanned so many years around that time.
It was amazing but at the time Fender couldn't build them fast enough, that's why I had to wait 3 months plus from my factory order to delivery, and the music store I bought it from was very close (2 or 3 miles) to the Fender Factory in Fullerton. I guess it must not have been profitable enough (don't ask me why) and CBS wanted out of the music instrument business.
I can't really say one way or another. I read the thread where you were searching for the born on date for that P bass of yours. You know it is possible that the sticker with the apparrent 1980 date could have come from a replacement pickguard... (??)

Actually my serial number is 861848 which is pretty close to yours so yours could be a 77 or 8. Most important thing is that it plays and sounds good. I love the tone of my P bass!

3 color sunburst CIJ P from Ishii. Very light at or under 8 lbs, I'd guess.

It is Candy Apple Red...it does have a couple very tiny dings...1-2mm near the input jack, and the finish where my arm sits has a little orange peel thing going, but nothing major at all. Had emg's in it for a few years and a badassII, but recently put all the original stuff back on it....sweet, sweet tone.
