The T-40 is the one bass I wish I owned.

They're still affordable if you shop around. I didn't pay that much for mine. About $100 more than I paid for a CV Squier. And it was in extremely good codition.

So when you factor in what you get for the money, they're still decent bargains as long as you're patient. About three years ago I decided to get a T-40 and stop kicking myself for not buying one new when they were still making them. But I wasn't about to spend a lot for one even though I was fairly fussy about the condition I'd accept one in.

It took about two years of shopping and checking ads. And unsuccessfully bidding two times. But I eventually found exactly what I wanted at the price I expected to pay for it.

So never say never if you really want one. I've still got a bass on my bucket list I've been biding my time and waiting to score for around 25 years now. I figure I'll get one eventually.

What's the bucket list bass ? Mine was 3 octave fretless Tune Bass Maniac.32 years before I found one for sale,even with folk looking out in Japan. Now if I can just kick the Vigier Passion II idea I'll rest easy

At the risk of going totally OT to reply, it's a Gibson Victory Custom. That's the two pickup passive model. Among the rarest of Gibson's unicorns. My musical cronies kid me that I have the best collection of "Edsel basses" in the world. Virtually nothing I own and enjoy playing was ever very popular.

You can find the Victory Artist and the single pickup Victory Standard somewhat more easily. But a Custom is extremely elusive. I've only run into three of them between now and 1982 when they were first introduced. And none of them were for sale.

Thank you so much! But probably not right this moment. I'm in the process of buying a Gibson SB300 (yet another Edsel - or unicorn - depending how you look at it ) and I'm pretty tapped out cash-wise right now because of it. I also don't like to bug people unless I'm in a position to buy or at least make a creditable offer. I've dealt with enough tire-kickers over the years that I don't want to ever be one myself.

However…if you could find out if it's a Custom, that alone would be great to know. Because after the start of the new year, my discretionary equipment purchase reserves should have some funds back in place. And come March/April I might be in a better position to do something. (Do you ever get the feeling I've learned to play the long game when it comes to buying basses? )

had several various amps / combos / cabs back in the day ... 70's/80's ... usually worked music stores during the daytime back then , Peavey gear was quite affordable at Employee Purchase prices ..!!

never ever owned any of their instruments ..?!?

You have impeccable taste my good fellow. The green one and the natural wood one, black PG and maple neck especially. Normally I am not a natural wood or green fan but those really caught my eye. Huzzah! Carry on!

I owned a Peavey Patriot and a couple of Peavey Foundation basses in the 1980's. For the money, they were a good solid bass.

Great collection of Peavey basses in this thread from all contributors and I for one appreciate all members input. I certainly echo ack and kodiaks sentiments about the help given from other Peavey owners and mutual respect that others on TB could learn from. I've learnt more about my own '91 Dyna's pups from other Peavey owners here than I have found out in the past 26 years since owning the bass..lol Rock on Peavey owners. I'm proud to belong to a great group of Peavey Bassists.
