This is my current state of play. The top board is the main one, for gigging in town, recording, and touring by car/van. The Nano is for the few flyout gigs I get every year, and the *occasional* jam/rehearsal/thing locally where I won't need anything besides the "bare essentials". Always-on HPF attached to the bottom of both boards, as well!

@_Obra_ I can only assume the lack of a Cali or Noble in this entire image is sufficiently refreshing to your eyes that the pedal in the bottom-right corner is coming out a little blurry on your screen? Asking for a friend ;)

If you haven't already, consider fooling around with the pedal order - you might have better luck with the VT Bass at the end of your chain, and OD before chorus. There's no rules obviously but the traditional pedal order for most applications would be:

Tuner -> Keeley Bassist -> Octamizer -> BB-1X -> CE-2B -> VT Bass

The Keeley is also an awesome limiter, so if you're getting big spikes in your playing dynamics consider trying it out at the end of your chain, before your amp.

In my experience the boss Bb-1X is a pretty weird pedal but I think it actually sounds best at the end of your chain, using the LINE OUT function into a mixing desk/FRFR. It sounds way better that way than before a sansamp from what I’ve tried. Keep the gain LOW. Using it as a semi clean cab sim type preamp is where it works best imo. As an overdrive before an amp? Ehhhhhh I’m not a fan. Maybe some people can make it work. I rarely see BB-1Xs on boards. Mine is currently sitting on a shelf. Maybe I’ll run it in parallel as a clean DI type type bass track for recording. Not a raw DI for reamping but one that’s actually meant to be heard. I wouldnt use it as my main amp sim/DI box though. Neat pedal but not a “Boss SansAmp” as the Bass Driver title of the pedal might suggest.

I’m currently enjoying combing and stacking different kinds of drives, which is why there are three of them on there. The Lizard Queen is it’s own thing, it’s in one of the Switchblades loops to allow me to mix in dry signal to taste (thanks for the tip, Nate Navarro), but the Sansamp and the Darkglass I do combine sometimes. The Darkglass is usually where most of my toneshaping goes on, but I don’t mind running it as a clean preamp (and possibly allowing some light grit from the Sansamp.

The Hotone doubles as volume and tuner, the bass comp is not very noticeable but always on, the OC-5 is a cool addition in certain riffs and songs (but used sparingly). The Joyo is really just there if I need to boost anything.

From time to time I’ll really strip it down and just use one or two pedals, but for the time being, I’m enjoying building an array of sounds, ranging from clean to overwhelmingly nasty. At the very least, the experience will undoubtedly teach me a few things about what works and what doesn’t.

Been enjoying this for a few months now. Still tinkering on the margins every now and then, but truthfully this is more than I need and less than I want. Lots of similar but different dirt sounds available.

Rockboard + Mod 1 for ins and outs, powered by a Walrus Canvas 22.

Signal flow is:

Bass > In to Mod 1 jack A > Smoothie > Zio > Polytune > Octabvre > Bass Whammy > Mystery Box of Doom: the Sequel > BBD > MBD > Blumes > BEAD v3 > Narwhal > Fifth Gear > Joshwah > Walrus Audio Chorus > CDR+ > Out to Mod 1 jack E > amp

i was so happy i got the Chase bliss MKii in the mystery box and fell in love with it the moment i plugged it in, i wanted it immediately as part of my rig for my dirt and grit. the CB CXM1978 arrived today and is for my reverb and modulation needs for ambient bass. The noble is my preamp/DI and the cali76 for the squish and squeeze. they are both the main core of this rig. 3leaf audio Chromatron for envelope filter and 3leaf octavbre mkii for octave. and a reliable tuner to keep me in tune. pls pardon the settings as its still being dialled in. Cheers!

Big board is my for main band.

Small board is for my weekly houseband ampless gig. And any rehersals I might do.
Purpose built for this gig: 1/4" out goes to FOH and muteable, XLR goes to the in-ears which is always hot.

The More only lives with my class d amp to give more chewyness. It stays home if I bring either of my tube amps.
