sounds like my first marriage. all good up front, 1/2 way thru a lot of struggling, and yes/no decision making, then in the end it all worked out when I walked out.

Seeing all these beautiful basses made me get ambition to stop playing and take a few pictures. Yeah, in case anyone is wondering, that is a hipshot, got it on ebay. Worth every single penny. It's so awesome. It makes a great bass greater. E to D, just like that. Actually, it's easier than typing "E to D". I'm still wondering what would be a good amp for a Thunderbird if I want a Quadrophenia bass sound and tone, but since Sunn amps are no longer made 
Also, I already know John Entwistle used a MXR Dyna Comp (or the 1970s equivalent). I need to find an alternative amp, although I'm keeping my eyes open on the ebay for a Sunn amp in decent shape that's not going to cost me my first born child. And anyone that complains about the neck dive just shouldn't play a Thunderbird. The neck dive never bothered me. I know I could move the strap pin to behind the neck to stop the neck dive (or at least that's what I've heard) but I don't like having the strap pin behind the neck. Wouldn't it be so cool if the Non-Reverse Thunderbirds were put back into production? I was hoping for one as a 'Guitar of the Week' last year at gibson.com. Gibson or Epiphone, either would be nice. But Gibson only has 2 basses in production!! Well 3 now with the Nikki Sixx signiture Thunderbird.

I took my pickguard off a long time ago, just for the same reason...nice wood should not be covered.

its a gibson thunderbird. there were 400 of these made in 2007. the center is mahagony with zebrawood wings!
there's another zebraBird owner in the membership here, ...those ZebraBirds are unique for sure, almost like they ran out of mahogany wings, and had to use whatever, and called it a limited edition.

That's awesome! When I saw the other zebrabird on here, I did a doubletake... "What's someone else doing with pictures of my bird?! Oh. Nevermind.". Anyways, that's 3 of 400 zebrabirds accounted for on Talkbass - only 397 to go!

perhaps not as rare as some production line basses, including my 03Dillion (57 made) and 94JacksonBird (28 made), but the exposed wood far surpasses my black painted Birds in beauty, compared to numbers produced before they stopped.

Anyway, I really enjoy seeing all of these awesome basses in this thread - I never knew that there were so many *awesome* non-Gibson bird variants out there! Keep 'em coming!
This option was offered a few years ago. I've only ever seen this picture. I've gassed for it ever since. Maybe someday.

Just an Ep Thunderbird IV with weathering from my belt and buckle, jeans, stage, drummer's cymbals, concrete, and asphalt. I'm always keeping my eye open for '60s and '70s Gibson T Birds, but at the price they are currently sitting, it'll be a while before I will have my hands on one.
Sometimes I get fret buzz on my E string. I raised the bridge up a little and it seems to help. I have always assumed that's just the nature of the beast because of how low the action is on the T Birds. But once I had the opportunity to play a Gibson Bird... holy crap. I am in love. Like I said, it's definitely coming soon, but for now, this will do.

reminds me of my BlackDillionBird, except yours has a few "mojo" marks....
I always thought the cute ISIS birdlady on the pickguard was unique and different, since they couldn't copy the GibsonBird logo, and they made that the Dillion trademark.
