I'm planning on going with a V/V/V/T setup. Is there any advantage of the 5 way switch over this other than convenience? I'm not sure how adding an extra volume pot over the V/V/T like I have now will affect things.
I've been thinking of a three pickup Tele build with just a VVV control setup. My G&L SB2 has the stock VV setup -- I thought I'd miss the tone control but I don't.

Agreed. I also like the pickup positioning -- seems like it would have a wide range of tones. Could you please elaborate on the electronics (or did I miss that) Moonshine.
Sorken, do you have a larger picture? This is a thumbnail, and I'm not sure if I'm seeing double or if that's a really... interesting way of mounting two Precision pickups.

You are seeing double, and it is a really interesting way of mounting two P pickups. One more vote for a bigger picture -- and for a more detailed explanation of the BVVT control arrangement.

I tried to spread the pickups out for that very reason. That and the switching allows you to get a variety of tones; my favorite is all three pickups on (in series!) .
The electronics and controls are all stock original Fender components, the only thing I replaced were the pickups and the three sliding switches (which are now on/off switches for the three pickups). The active/passive switch, active bass/treble controls , passive volume and tone controls are all stock Fender Jaguar.

Ex Navy pilot (and Apollo 13 Commander) Jim Lovell signed the aircraft carrier which was named after the ship he was based on. He also signed a book for us and enjoyed browsing some Apollo news clippings I saved from when I was 10 yrs old. The bass is being donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (he was on their board at one time). The accessories in the last photo go with it.
Here's my PJ Humbucker based off a VM Jazz. For now I just have a toggle for each pickup which I like better than the three volume pots because it gives me a little more oomph. I think I might get a 3 holed jazz plate for a VT control and move the switches onto the pickguard. I definitely want to do something with the switches because I'm not liking the chrome switches on the chrome control plate.
