Yeah, but you dwarf me in absolutely every aspect/area of bass playing heheh. I thought you were a nickle guy for some reason or another. Maybe I'll give the fatbeams a chance, I was playing hi-beams at the time.

You're right, I was a Nickel guy for quite a while. Then I tried the DR Fat Beams and they felt great and sounded great so I switched. I still use Nickel on my MTD, Zon Legacy fretless and a couple other basses. Haven't tried the Fat Beams on an Elrick yet, can't seem to wear the strings out on them. Weird... and very nice from a cost perspective

Anything that doesn't instantly die is OK in my book! I seem to be pretty ruff on strings. But, alas, I'm way off topic at this point. I'll see about picking up some fatbeams for my stingray before I slap on D'Addarios.

Those are Watts basses. Gary (the builder) is from the Portland area and has retired. It's too bad as the quality of his work is astonishing.

There are a couple of 6'ers that I'd buy from Rod in a heartbeat if he ever decides to sell them!

I play all of mine at church occasionally, but these are the most used. I use the Zon at least 70% of the time, the Nordstrand and Peavey around 10% each.

Anyway, I play all my basses in church... I'm hoping my soon to be completed Skjold is going to change that.

Thanks for the kind words, Yes they are Sei's and I have to say I have been serously blessed to be able to have them!

The Maple one is in fact a flame sycamore one with wenge wings and a wenge and flame sycamore neck. The body facings, fretboard and headstock facings were all taken out of the same block of flame sycamore to give a top to toe flame effect.

It is 34" scale and a string spacing of 17.5mm with individual AMB bridge peices.

The passive pickup is a custom Kent Armstrong humbucker with a hidden coil tap allowing a single coil option. The pickup goes straight to Jack hence the lack of knobs to fiddle with.

I use a Boss TU2 between the bass and amp to give me a mute between songs which works really well.

The design idea was to show as much wood as possible and to have a simplistic a bass as possible which I think I have achieved. The tonal variations are really wide just using my fingers and the coil tap so I do not find myself needing an on board pre.

Martin Petersen as always took my rambling ideas and created a bass of beauty and playability [imho of course]

Depends on what style and genre you're playing.

People might think that playing traditional Catholic hymns in Mass is boring (My only gig. ), but I've never come across so many incredible harmonies, complex chord structures, and sheer musical genius in such an openly available package. It's mindblowing.

Not to mention the spiritual and mental benefits. I find it incredibly satisfying to my musical appetite, relaxing, and peaceful, and if "singing is praying twice" (Si = Pr x 2)what does that say about playing? (Ply = Pr x 4)
