I guess we had to wait for G&L to go belly up in order to get this mod on an L2x00. At least this is the first I've heard of it. I'm not much of a blend fan. I find it's better in theory than in practice. I had an MJ-4 with a blend pot from the factory. Like most blends I've used, it acted more like a switch than a pot, with about 1/8th inch of blend area either way from center detent. I tried changing pots to an MN100k, but it affected the tone negatively, so I put the MN250k factory pot back in. The only blend I've ever had that worked well was in a couple of Steinberger Synapse basses I played decades ago. Those were active basses with 25k pots.

I didn't know much about G&L's back then, but still remember when I sold you this gorgeous one and you cried like a baby because it "wasn't stock". :bawl: Wish I'd kept it, like dozens of other G&L's.

I've only been a G&L owner for about the last seven or eight years, though I'd heard about them since the late '80s. I currently own five--three Tributes and two USAs--and I've sold probably a half dozen. The only one of those I miss is a Tribute MJ-4 I had. I didn't plan to sell it, but a friend offered me $200 more than I'd paid for it, so away it went. The MJ-4 is basically a JB-2 with an M-series preamp added and noiseless 'single coils.' I normally find Cort's pickups underwhelming, but those noiseless jazz-bass-style pickups kicked some serious butt.

Just traded for this Red 81L2000 going to meet later this evening locally here mid west here in Ohio. Looks like in decent shape back of neck has some wear not bad though. Don't have original case.

That's not an '81. The oldest that can be is late '85 when the L2000 transitioned from front to rear mounted controls. The headstock added the eye-gouger in mid to late '83. Looks nice but as always, check the truss rod.

Morning,seller decided not to do the trade? Decided his L2000 was sentimental after thinking about it over night. Was not to be which is no problem,I still have my L2000 and the Lakland 44-02. Take Care!

I had this L-2500 before I got the Shell Pink JB5. I got it used. It sounded magical!! The neck had been replaced by G&L, so no Serial Number bothered me a bit. 1998 Body with an early 2000s neck. The control cavity looked like a bird that shared its nest with a rat! 🤣🤣

Beautiful bass! A couple years ago, I bought a Tribute L-2500, I took it to a friend, who replaced the volume and treble pots with push / pull pots to individually switch either one or both into single coil mode. After all that, it looked worse than this, but man, what a sound.
