Having moved to primarily short scales last year I only have one left

2014 L1K from the Rocketmusic limited run. Pre-empress so it's swamp ash with rosewood and a #8 neck. OMG cap is snipped for straight series and I've got it strung up BEAD with flats. Pickguard is sparkle gold paisley from Quickguards (I don't think they are still making them).

Even though I'm not in the market for any more G&Ls (the Fallout doesn't fit what I want in a short scale) I was bummed to hear the news because I've been such a big fan for so long. I was watching for MFD HBs to get back in stock because I want to try dropping one in one of my short scales. I guess I may have to try it with the MFD split-coil I have in my drawer at some point.

A little G&L royalty- here is an 1982 Wunkay that was owned and obviously well played by Walter Becker of Steely Dan fame. I was lucky enought to win this at his estate auction after his untimely death. I play it often at rehearsal and the occasional gig- sounds great as you would expect. It came with what looks like a home-made corduroy strap ??!! The wear on the fret board is beautiful- he obviously liked to stay home in first position.

This is an amazing score! Congrats.
A question: I just came upon a 1980 L-1000 with plastic knobs like this. Does anyone know if plastic knobs were ever stock from G&L, or are they definitely aftermarket?

Very similar. The Lynx might be slightly brighter, but I think that might just be in the strings. I can dial in Kevin’s tone perfectly with the Lynx.

‘96 L-2000 that I ordered to spec through Bass Northwest in Seattle. Swamp ash body, cherryburst, rosewood, 1-5/8” nut.
It was my first real bass after the Samick J clone I started on.
I agonized over which finish to choose, but ended up basically ordering the exact finish and spec that was shown on the L-2000 in the high gloss G&L brochure in those years.
Does anyone else have a G&L SKB case from that era that’s always smelled almost like maple syrup inside? Don’t know what the deal is with that, but it’s always been a pleasure to open. After three decades it still has a bit of the smell.

It was made in Huntington Beach, CA the same summer I moved to Long Beach (next city over) from Chicago, at that time the only musical instrument I owned was a '92 G&L Legacy guitar.
