A little G&L royalty- here is an 1982 Wunkay that was owned and obviously well played by Walter Becker of Steely Dan fame. I was lucky enought to win this at his estate auction after his untimely death. I play it often at rehearsal and the occasional gig- sounds great as you would expect. It came with what looks like a home-made corduroy strap ??!! The wear on the fret board is beautiful- he obviously liked to stay home in first position.

I'm going to add the oddball.

1994 L-5500. The one with EMG's, wide nut, chunky neck, 4+1 headstock. 18v mod.

Very clean tone, room filling sound. Piano-like clarity when left natural, and a great foundation for effects. This through a lush chorus is magic.

And...12.6 lbs. Perfectly balanced, because the whole thing is crazy heavy. When I play this bass I'm bringing 60% more bass that the next guy. Win?

My current G&L family: (1) JB in Midnight Blue Metallic, built to order in 2010, with Lace Sensor Man O' War pickups; (2) M-2500 in Ruby Red Metallic, built 2013, bought early 2014; (3) Legacy HSS in Silver Metallic, built to order, 2022. The basses have quartersawn necks. I still own an SB-2, but it's for sale on consignment at a shop in Philly.

Hearing the news that G&L is gone (or about to be sold) and owning a G&L myself, I feel kinda lucky.

In honor of this sad news please post photos of your G&L basses. I'll start...

This is a 2024 G&L CLF L-1000, Build-to-Order in Pearl White over an alder body, with a maple neck, rosewood fretboard, and matching painted headstock
