Yours is the SOHC four, right? Those are real nice. My last bike was a 750, like yours, but a 78 with the f-style DOHC heads (not as good as the K's)...and that bike, when I put cafe bars on, was SO top heavy I couldn't ride it like that...the SOHC's weren't half as bad (imo) but I'ma stick with the vertical twins for the cafe bikes from now on. Best of luck with your conversion...if you don't wanna do clip ons, but want a set of bars that get you close to that fell, let me know, I have a spare set that'll fit right in your clamps.
Mine is the last year of the SOHC, I didn't know that when I bought it, but I am glad that it is the SOHC now that I have done some more reading up on it. I have a flat bar that I was going to stick on it, but PM me with details on the curved bar, I was wanting to try both. If you look at my first post on the last page, you will see what I am planning on doing this summer.
To be the Cafe has always been the 750 four. There were always the classic Norton and Triumph cafes, but the 750 was more in the spirit of the idea. The true working mans, fast as heck, engine on wheels. IMO, of course.

....And I really like the sohc CB750's! I've owned a bunch of them over the years. stock, choppers, cafes, touring. They are great bikes.
In my opinion, one of the best ever built.

After this one is done, I wouldn't mind doing a bobber using a CB750 engine, or maybe in the style of a stock '40s Harley. I also want to grab a 350 four at some point for city riding.
What is your Norton? I know a guy with a 1962 something or other Norton that I have been trying to pry out of his hands for a few years. He wont let go of it. All original and still looks and runs like new.

Nobody does Nortons up like that (touring), which is why I built it.
Theres not another one out there like it.

Nice Norton. A buddy of mine had one at the American Motorcycle Institute in Daytona back in the late 70's. Sucker would scream. Aren't the pistons asymmetrical?
I didn't think that was a factory job. Very very cool. I'll see if I can rassle up some pics of my uncle's 750 before it went basket case.
Dug the S4 too huh? The one I rode belonged to a 50 year old woman who was 5'1 ish and about 130 pounds. She used to flog the piss out of it at Loudon. That bike scared the pants off of me and she rode it daily!
