A PERFECT bass in my book for both the look and probably the sound.Was definitely thinking that too , I made a couple of mockup control covers out of wood and a pickguard before I drilled for the guard , and was thinking of control plate pickup bezel , but in the end it’s just not the aesthetic I like , it’s a crime to cover it I agree , but sometimes crime is the only wayVery not bad!
I was about to reply to your original, deleted post when it suddenly went away. I was gonna suggest you get a control plate that would cover up just enough of the routing, so your bass could show off more of it's fantastic grain, 'cuz that guard covers up a lot of it's natural coolness.
