I can verify those are all terrific basses, that Mouse is the nicest one I've ever played.

I can verify those are all terrific basses, that Mouse is the nicest one I've ever played.
I agree. I also have a UL-112, but I mostly play though the house with in-ear-monitors. So I might sell the 12. But the 110s are keepers no matter what. Not a high-volume set up, but that's ok with me.
I also recently bought an Acoustic Image Ten2 just for fun and to compare it to my Contra-Ex cabinet. The Contra-Ex sounds great for home practice, but never worked for me as a stage monitor. I think the Contra-Ex cabinet would work well in many settings, but when I supported a medium-size choir, and with the room at 95 to 100 db, the Contra-Ex just got kind of lost. The Ten2 still has the excellent classic Acoustic Image sound but is also much more focused than the Contra-Ex; So I think it would work better on stage for me.
Thanks, Brad. I hope you're doing well. I'm with you... My Mouse just plays like a dream. I still want to stop by and show off the new Lull P5 (Aztec Gold, just like your Lull P). I just posted a picture of it on the Lull thread, but the picture does not do it justice.
Just got back from the shop. Yes, 33" scale E-C kills. Rob's going to ponder some options for me.
I'm sure you're right and maybe I should hold onto the 112.
I've just never had the need to use both speakers (mostly playing in church where I go direct to the board. Plus, I'm trying to avoid high-decibel gigs because the audiologist has detected some hearing loss in the past four years and I don't want to push my luck. Would you say you're playing at a high volume when you are using both the 110 and 112?
There are some who say that a 110/112 stack is louder than a 112/112. I've tried a 110/110 stack (very close in volume to a 210) and a 112/112 stack. I much prefer the 110/112. The 110/112 sounds really nice at lower volumes too, worth a try.
There's nothing wrong with one or two 110s though, a beautiful sounding cab. Epi's best, IMHO.

I am in Montana for a corporate leadership session, and last year the group challenged me to put on a music event. So, over the last month I've corresponded with musicians in town over email, and found a drum and piano player willing to play a small jazz gig at a local restaurant. We met last night for the first time, and played in their garage. It was OK, but we agreed to add a sax player. Just so happened the piano guy knew one. So tonight was the night.
We arrived, set up, and played a great gig. 2 hours of material, jazz standards and a couple rock tunes. We played great together. And, the crowd loved it!
Huge relief, as it was a total success, and the people from the leadership session were totally blown away. As were the other people in the restaurant. Well, appreciative, if not blown away. They all loved it.
And then, in addition to having an awesome performance, the piano and drum guy are now asking to have me sit in on a few recording sessions, because my playing and my bass tone was so great. Awwww, big head for me. But, the bass tone is because, I was playing my Rob Allen Fretless MB2. They were falling apart over the tone! So rich and warm and comforting and enveloping.
So score one for Rob Allen MB2 basses!
(And score one for me!)

I did my usual 12-18 month string change on my Mouse about 7-8 weeks ago. In the past it seems to have taken about a month plus for the "new string zing" to fade away and the thump I love so much on this bass to settle in. This go around, however, the zing just keeps hanging on. I saw an ad for LaBella 760n strings in Bass Player mag and it touted the "newly redesigned" strings. Anybody else notice a difference in the strings or know anything about the "redesign"?

Good for you! I've been at a few leadership sessions where I had to challenge my self-limiting thoughts. Surprising by-products can come out of those kind of sessions and it sounds like you're having a great time! Very cool outcome.
