I am anxiously awaiting my white copper tapes to be delivered. Curious to hear how different that sound than my old and tired black tapes.

I have this set of heavy guage white tapewounds that I was going to put on my jazz fretless, but I just may have to try them on the MB-2. If long scale is long enough, the black tapewounds I got with the bass are extra long.

Put a set of the new Labella copper/white tapes on my MB2 (four string with the epoxy fingerboard). Very warm. Nice singing tone that just a bit mellower than the black tapes. Need to try on Deep4 or MB2-5

My band, Link Removed, just did our first "unplugged" performance on the outside patio of a local restaurant called Saucy. The band included an acoustic guitar (unamplified), a cajon (unamplified), and a Rob Allen Deep 4 fretless acoustic bass lightly amplified through a TecAmp Puma 900 and Greenboy Audio Crazy8. The recording used a Radial JDV active direct box from the guitar's passive pickup, a Shure Beta91a placed inside the cajon on its bottom panel, and an AKG Perception 400 large diaphragm condenser mic place five inches in front of the Crazy8 (photo below). Each channel went to a Zoom H6 recorder and was processed in Presonus Studio One.

I really like the copper tapes on my MB-2 5er. Warm but much more zing and upper mids IMO. I won't be going back to the black tapes any time soon.

I have the regular gauge, I would go with lights moving forward though as I really like the lower tension on the LaBella light tapes.

I just relisted my MB-2 5er in he classifieds for anyone that wants a killer RA.

I just found out that my singer's wive is very sick, so we are taking a long term hiatus. My other band is alternative rock, so the RA just won't be getting the playing time it deserves.

I have a question about the electronics in a Deep. I was changing the battery and noticed a blue attenuator component on the circuit board. I set everything to flat and turned it all the way to the left then to the right. I did not discern a difference in sound.

Does anyone know the purpose of the blue attenuator component on the Deep's circuit board?

On the MB-2 it's a passive tone control/high cut.
