Wow! If you ever should sell it!? Any soundclips? What's the reason with maple neck instead of the walnut?

No plans to sell it...I use it regularly for our acoustic sets...with a touch of reverb, it sits really well in the mix. (No sound clips atm though...)Rob recommended the neck woods, and I trusted his spec...given what I was going for, sonically. (However, I did change his top wood spec-from Koa to Walnut
...)
Back in the early days Rob offered the option of a Deep neck on an MB-2 body. Does any one own or know of one?

Here is mine. In 2002 I boought a used MB2 . I then ordered a Deep 5 from Rob with an ebony fingerboard. When received it I immediately called him and asked if he had more of the same ebony. I then shipped the MB2 to him and he built a Deep 5 neck for it. It made a huge difference to the instrument. I moved to mexico in 2005 and the bass has held up very well through the extreme humidity and plays and sounds great.
That is ****ing gorgeous. Very much regretting turning it down when it was offered to me.
Yes. My acoustic fretless faux upright these days is a Takamine TB10, but it has been a few years since I used either bass on a gig or recording and I if I am not using a bass I always consider selling it. But the sweetener in this case is that the Rob Allen will be visiting me twice a week for the foreseeable future, and I can always borrow it if needed! My student is in love with it so it is in good hands!
I have one from 2003 I bought from a TBer a few yrs ago. MB-2 fretless 5, koa top with a Deep-5 neck, koa with ebony stringers.
I cannot put it down, and I cannot seem to find a reason to play any of my other basses. I did a 3 hour gig on Saturday and could have kept going, it's light, it's versatile as hell, and well, I love it! ...... easy to play for sure too!

Glad my MB2 5 string is being played. I still have my 6 string MB2 and Mouse 30. Ended up playing the Mouse 30 last night. I'm always amazed how light they are and how easy they play. I'm playing guitar 95% these days and mostly acoustic. For whatever reasons, the Mouse 30 made me feel at home.

beautiful instrument. agreed about the thumb rest. how is it attached? I would get rid of it asap. kills the whole vibe of the top.
