I'd like to see some nice examples of 6 string basses and how you've tuned yours.

This is my Ibanez GSR206 with some slight visual mods. Tuned BEADGC.

And an old Yamaha 5 string I converted into a 6 string...

Mine is being made at the moment. Lefty 23" scale headless fretless 6 string uke bass that will have a white/pale ebony fingerboard, Riviera hardware and Delano passive pickups. Can't wait to give it a spin whenever it gets finished.

I just picked up this Carlo Robelli six string. One of the tuning posts was broken in half where the string wraps onto it. I ended up replacing all six tuners.
After a good clean, restring with Aurora strings, and setup, it plays great! This is my first six string, so it took some getting used to. I also have never done a setup on a six string, so that was a fun and good learning experience.

It's passive/active, with a push/pull on the volume know. It also has a blend know and tone knob that work in both modes, and the fourth potentiometer is a signal sweep? boost? that only works in active mode.

I must say, I absolutely love playing a six string. I'm primarily a four string player, but I do have a five string (it's a match to this one. I also have the four string version). I thought the fiver was okay, but not my cup of tea. The six string, however, I thoroughly enjoy playing and can see myself either making a full time switch to it or, at the very least, playing it regularly.

I also own a 4 string bass and played the majority of the last 45+ years playing a 5 string. And I agree my 6 string (with it's extremely flat, yet wide neck, great ergonomics and balance) has just opened up so many possibilities.

I go in streaks where I'll play nothing but my 6 string for a long time, but then many times I just want to aggressively play my 4 string. The 6 string requires a little more finesse and focus.

It definitely does require a lot more finesse and focus! I am enjoying all the extra room on the fretboard!
And I also don't think I'll ever stop playing four string. It's a whole lot of fun in a whole different way.
I do find it interesting that I prefer the four and six, but not the five as much. I wonder what that's about.

I have been resisting the urge to buy a six string bass for a long time now... Rented one for a month a while back and enjoyed it well enough.
