I made-up a pair of "standoffs" out of hard packing foam for my Ashdown but it still gets buzzed by my cab. I've been just leaving the head sitting on its case next to the cab but I don't always have enough room to do that, especially on smaller stages.

Thank ye! The 4x10 is a great match for the C225 head. It's sealed, not too heavy, and nicely punchy, but without getting "congested." It's not a cab that I would likely use with a solid state head (ported 4x10's will move more air in this situation), but with a tube head, it's really, really nice.
I think that's pretty cool if the band's PA is up to the task (I haven't enjoyed that luxury...).
Which "amp" do you use (or do you use more than one) and do you carry a backup (yes, I'm serious)?

I use the"valve" amp. I have the EQ set and don't mess with it, and I have just a bit of compression on the signal.
We run sound from stage on our own gear 95% of the time and it is consistently tight, punchy and has good depth.
As a matter of fact, I do carry a spare PX4B in my case.

Now you can downsize even further... I've seen amplifier modeling apps for smart phones and it wouldn't surprise me if there's a bluetooth wireless for instruments too...

Funny you should mention downsizing, I see that Korg now has a Pandora Mini and I'm seriously considering it.

First ever bass rig, playing live about 3 shows per week with a rock band. Carvin sounds and feels flat...lifeless...any known complaints about the b500?
