How does the ampeg sound with the Accugroove? And does the head give the cab enough power?

It sounds real good despite the mix of old school (the ampeg) and new technology (AccuGroove). I have the EQ on the head set totally flat and I only use the EQ on my bass. The 350 watts delivers more than enough volume for my situation, it just lacks head room.

Dude you gotta try the new 1001rbII or the 2x10 1001rbII combo to go with that bottom! :bassist:

I've tried the 1001RB through an SWR SOB. It was pretty good considering the cab. I fell in love with the original 1001RB. But I'm in a deal now to get a 115RBH and so I'm heading for a 2001RB head after that. Nothing but GK.

How come I always hear about ampeg, but not that many people have ampeg rigs on here.
i need some help..
I have a b2r ampeg head, and upgrading cabinet...
(b2r-350watts-4ohm)

I dont know waht to get, either 6x10s.. or 4x10's and 15. if i get 4x10s, it would be the SVT410HLF one..
this will all be ampeg, so what is your opinion. The sound i like, is like a warm, but with a good growl, but not really punchy..
suggestions?

Macbeth56...if you choose the SVT-410HLF you can't add another cabinet because the HLF is a 4 ohm cabinet and the B2R can't go below 4 ohms.

Let's see...warm and growly, but not punchy... I guess that means that you should really stay away from 10s. How about some 12s? (but it would be a non-Ampeg cabinet).

I'll bet a SVT-410HE and SVT-115 would should good, but I don't know how punchy a sealed Ampeg 410 is (the SVT-410HE is a sealed cabinet cabinet like half of an SVT-810 with a horn).

Wow, that's huge! Seems like it would be a pain to carry around, considering how wide and deep it is. :)

jjs,
I couple of ?s on your setup. First, I noticed you don't have a rack mount surge. Do you just plug all A/C into a surge on the floor?
Second, Isn't it just a little heavy? I guess with the cabs you have, it doesn't really matter, but how do you like carrying it all around?
Lastly, where the hell do you need 16 10s?!?! Just wondering if you just like it really loud, or are you playing concerts somewhere?
Thanks man, I am trying to piece together a rack rig, and am trying to decide what size rack to get to go along with a RBI and a Korg DTR-1000, and a half rack shure wireless. Still deciding on the amp too.

to wes:
hi, yeah this baby is little bit heavy but i dont mind. i am still young and carrying is the only sport i do :D rack surge and uhf wireless are next things on the wish list. of course its connected with rack upgrade (6U --> 8U) the second 8x10 was a big deal - almost new but halfpriced! i play both at big summer festivals and in big clubs - really no need of bass in monitors :D and it looks cool. lots of talkbasspeople say compliments to sansamp rbi!!! its a pitty i cant get it in this "hole" (there is no importer) grrr:( so i bought used svp. if you care about your poweramp weight i recommend you QCS (lots of happy owners-me too) but PLX series. good luck!
