Ah...the repurposed tube amp! (I've been watching too much TLC:D )

My first amp was an old tube amp from a console "Hi-Fi" unit and a pair of alnico 12s from another one. Worked well with my '74 P Bass until I got a real amp.

Cool stuff!!!

This one now has a Fender Bassman output transformer in it, and some killer NOS 6SN7 tubes that someone gave me. So the parts cost a wee bit more than the initial purchase price. Let's not get into the amount of dweeb time though...

Yeah, i've had it for awhile, since the start of september. It's a 1993 model, in perfect shape (theres a few small tolex rips, but all Ampeg's with tolex rip like crazy...) on a trade for a Hartke 4x10 XL and Peavey 115 BX. It's a great sounding cab. Lots of lows, sweet mids and great highs. It's just a great full range cabinet. I recently got a SICK deal on a 2x15, and i got that. Now i've got 3x15's and 4x10's. I've decided that the 2x15 will have me set on lows, and i'd just need an additional 4x10 because the 2x15 is too muddy by itself. So i found a local guy who is willing to buy the Ampeg, so i'm just looking for a 4x10 right now. It's a real heavy cab (the Ampeg- weighing in at 155 lbs...) but it's solid. I just don't need that much cab, you know? When you have 3 15's is just overkill...

Peace,
Scott
