Thanks. It was my Christmas present. I had the option of getting an actual '75 jazz bass (it was actually cheaper) in a faded yellow solid color that would have been nice. However it just didn't play quite as well as the reissue. Sometimes newer is just as good.
natrab, how much of the PLX3402's muscle do you hit the Avatar cabinet with...and how does it take it?
I play Bass for Vanessa Williams and The Travelin Black Hillbillies.I needed a rig that could cover synth, Banjo and 9 string midi bass.

Billy, the Avatar can take quit a bit. I've never put it past 12:00 on the dial however, as I think it would be too much. Now that I have my new Lakland 5 string I need to add a 2x12 cab to get a bigger bottom end as the Avatars are notoriously lacking. It also all depends as I haven't even tried an active bass through my pre-amp yet. A hotter signal would push the 3402 a little harder without having to boost its gain very high up. The good thing is I never feel like I'm lacking headroom 
I'm pretty sure I could run 2 2x12s and 2 4x10s with that 3402 @ 2ohms and it would be a wall of loud.

Well, this is it last of the Trace Elliotts?
I haven't got a clue with what to replace it, don't like tube/valve sounding rigs, so no Ampeg, don't like Ashdown, not fond of SWR...so any idea's? Perhaps Hartke or EBS? Anybody recommend a good Trace replacement set up?

Hey, is it just me, or is black9string powering the Hydras with a RMX 850??
EDIT: I zoomed in, and it looks like it's a 1450. That's still not alot of power to push the hydra's with a 9 string, right?

The Hydra's are a little underpowered but i'm still looking for a light power amp that's clean and 2 rack spaces. I've thougt about bi amping the Hydra's and putting the power amps in another rack.The Hydras are 4 ohms so I get enough punch for the gig.
