Hey Grooveslave, I also own an ACP-22+, and it is the best compressor that I have tried with bass. It far exceeds the dbx 1066 (on bass, as least), which was my prior favorite. However, I don't use it live much anymore, as I am happy enough with the compressor on my Navigator (and I don't compress my bass signal most of the time). It does rock for sound support (those gates are very nice) and in the studio.

Later, Tom.

I guess I got lucky. I didn't research it but trusted my guy at the music store. I got it for a nice discount since somebody bent one of the rack ears.

I like it as an effect when I'm slapping. I squash the signal and this thing leaves no artifacts. Just crank it (compression ratio) as high as I want.

For normal playing, I have it set around 3:1 so it just comes into play on a super loud transient. Most of the time it has no effect.

The one thing I don't like about it is that you can't read the writing under the knobs. I always have to get real close and squint (age I guess) to see it.

You definitely scored a lucky hit, then. And yes, the ACP-22 is remarkable in its ability to significantly compress a signal without audible pumping and breathing. When we were recording/mixing our CDs, my bandmates and I found that the PreSonus worked much better than any of our three dbx units on bass, drums and vocals. On guitars, we slightly preferred the 1066.

Enjoy!

Tom.

What is it that LOOKs like an ordinary closet door, but isn'?

:D

Ok, I'm kinda cheating... the 2 Yammers on top is my vocal practice PA.

But a guy can dream? I could theoretically hook it all up. Carvin feeding the SWR/Eden and the Eden powering the Yammers.

T'would be orgasmic.

Until then, it's a cool booty picture.

Picture opportunity! This is my current family, also with a solid old Traynor. Left to right: Trace TwinValve, EBS Fafner, Trace AH600SMX, Trace V8 with 4x10H and 18", Aggie DB680 + QSC PLX3002 with 4xAcme Low B-II, Traynor Custom Special with 8x10 and 18" folded horn, Fender Showman with 2xJBL D140F. Also shown are my home-made cabs... 2 with 2x10 and 2 with 1x15 Eminence speakers.

I *hate* side-scrollers, so if you want to see the big picture it's

I hope to have half of this much pretty soon too... I don't really need (or use) all. That would actually make a pretty good resolution for me as well. Unfortunately I've had a hard time parting with some of my trusted old friends, so my house has become something of an amp museum.

The Aggie/QSC/Acme does everything, although the Fafner is good for one or two cab setups. I don't think I'll be able to part with the V8 either. *sigh*

Here's my lil Rig... a change from the 6ft Trace Elliot Stack I had and 10 times better..tho... will be getting another Cab...
