Show your ashtrays/pickup covers

Here are some pictures "with" and "without". The bridge is the CV bridge, a bit sturdier than the regular bent Fender bridge.

Looks like you have a similar problem to what I had. The verticle back plate of my bridge was a bit too high at the corners to allow the ashtray to slide completely forward. Try getting a spare CV bridge and cutting or grinding the back corners down at an angle (kind of like I did except you don't need to flip the intonation screw or cut the base plate at an angle). It would be a one minute job on a grinding wheel or a 10 minute job with a hacksaw and file.

As an option, you could look into the bolt pattern of a standard Fender bent plate bridge to see if it will fit your bass. I think the back on the bent plate bridge is a bit shorter and should fit the ashtray.

Yup. The hi-mass CV/VM bridges don't get along well with ashtrays. But the hole pattern will take a standard Fender vintage bridge just fine.

My P and J are currently not wearing their covers, but years ago I was so obsessed with chrome that I put a J Bridge cover on my P-bass.

Not a fan of all-chrome knobs, but for similar aesthetic purposes I've got metal capped knobs on all 3 of my Fender-style instruments.

My J will probably get it's Pickup cover back when I get it back from my brother. Here's a pic of it before I put on a pearloid guard. Pearloid and Chrome look great on red...

It'll never have a bridge cover, but one of the reasons I put on a Badass II was to have a chunk of chrome at the end instead of a cover.

With a fretless, the tone is so dramatically affected by hand position, that I would leave the cover off. Also, in my mind the chrome aesthetic flows visually from the covers up the frets to the tuners. With tapes and no frets, the metal seems out of place, but's that's just my personal taste.

As I mentioned previously, I like having a big chunk of chrome at the bridge, so a Badass II (or an "Omega" now) was a great way to keep that general aesthetic while not denying yourself an improved bridge.

Oh....man! I am aroused! That is exquisite on so many levels! I don't really care for covers and was "graciously" keeping it to myself; then I found love! Beautiful!!!

I had an old Stingray preamp laying around so I dropped it (and a battery) in the Bronco and connected it to the lipstick Humbucker. Its a vol/treb/bass layout and really makes this little monster scream!

Actually I was trying to figure out what the toggle switch does on yours. Is it a kill switch?

Oh, that's cool! And nope, mine's a series/parallel switch. I've got the same brand of pickup in mine as you! GFS. Mine's the 15K wound Lil Killer.

Cool! I went the coil split route as well but with a trim ring mounted Seymore Duncan coil tap that gives series, parallel, neck single coil and bridge single coil. Here's a close up of the toggles...
