The bass might look better with them on, but I don't like playing with them on. But I kept them since 1983 when I got the bass...

Especially not the bridge one. First, it's got the foam mute in it. Second, I get a lot of tonal variation by playing anywhere on the string from the saddles to the end of the fingerboard
