Show your Bill Fitzmaurice cab is the name of the thread, and you're not here to do that, so that makes you a troll. Please go away.
If they aren't special unique or unusual then you must have seen other cabs that look the same. Show us one. Just one.I've only ever stated that the application of peizo's in these cabs was nothing special, unique or unusual, and even your comment re the crossfiring array was shown by Bill's own comments to be nothing unusual.
When guys see and hear my BF cabs they have only two questions, what are they and where can I get one.Dunno about the special part, but I must comment that the cabs are fairly unusual- I havn't seen much (if anything) resembling Bill's cabs at music stores, nor have I seen much similar looking gear live...
A hatchet job from someone whos never seen or heard one isn't all good.so let's discuss these designs, it's all good.
Ok, it wasn't a bass tube amp when I got a closer look - it was a guitar head stacked away in the corner.
I did see though that the resident bass player uses a big Trace Elliot combo with a Jansen ( NZ ) sub underneath ( not crossed over though by the look of it )
I used my O10 - 2 DLII2510 and 4 piezos.
All the other musos there plus quite a few of the congregation came up afterwards saying "we have not heard bass so nice, clear, and authoritive like that before - great sound, I hope you come and play here again"
Of course if you are to believe some comments made by a member here that there's nothing special about BFD cabs and his use of piezo arrays, you'd wonder why all these people would go out of their way and come up and compliment me in that manner right!!!
They could have said "Nice to have you well played bla bla".....but no, they specifically mentioned the quality of tone........funny that. Which proves the designer, Bill, knows what he's talking about!!!

The OmniTop15 is an easy build but gets you as close to the DR250 as you can with such an easy buiild.Gah you sold, me, i'm ordering the plans for an omnitop 15 tonight. it's summer, school ends tommorow, so i'll have some free time on my hands.
Rick, are you using your T39/Dr250 at many gigs? When guys see and hear my BF cabs they have only two questions, what are they and where can I get one..

I haven't had time yet to build an OmniTop15 so I cannot speak from 1st hand experience but by all accounts of the other builders who have, this is a very nice elect bass cab.

That would make the woofer horn narrower so response would suffer. Put a pair of recessed casters onto one bottom side edge and wheel it sideways. One thing I'd really like to see would be an Omni 15 in a taller slimmer format, to get the mid/high drivers up closer to ear level and make it easier to carry through doorways and suitable for tilt and roll casters.
Anyone else agree?
Alex
Yes.
Arranging the woofer horn in vertical position with the mid/tweet above sounds like a good idea.
Why wouldn't this work?
Turn the woofer horn on its side, with the woofer on the upper half of the horn, and reduce the cabinet width to about 20". Keep the 17" depth but increase the heigth to about 40" to maintain the same internal volume. That gives you a cab that is tall enough to tilt and roll and puts the mid and high horns about a foot higher, which would be better for both bass and PA use.
Read the O15 reviews on my site, it's not a problem. Even without casters the tweeter is 26 inches above the floor. On the average 4x10 the tweeter is half that distance from the floor.[[Arranging the woofer horn in vertical position with the mid/tweet above sounds like a good idea
I'd like to hear from the desinger. I'm grateful for the ease of smaller lighter cabs but one negative (for me) has been that the sound is pointed at my knees.
I'm not a horn expert so I'm not arguing. Rather just saking a question for my own curiosity..... If you simultanously narrow the horn but make it taller, resulting in the same overall mouth area, wouldn't the horn cut-off point remain the same? That would make the woofer horn narrower so response would suffer.
Yes, but the O15 horn isn't that simple in its layout, as it is fed by both the driver front wave and rear wave. What's being requested would require a complete redesign of the cab.I'm not a horn expert so I'm not arguing. Rather just saking a question for my own curiosity..... What drivers do you have in them?
My T39 has 2 x BP102 and the current DR has 1 x Beta 10 + piezos. I have some DR250's cabs shells waiting some DeltaliteII2510's to arrive and hopefully I can keep at least 2 of them for myself!

DR250/2510 is my main squeeze, O15/3015LF for the bigger rooms, DR250 with the T39/Delta 12LF on the very rare occasion that I need that much, which is pretty much only outdoors, big stage.
Every time I see that Double O15 rig of yours....my legs wobble!I am utterly, 100% certain that I don't want to play any future gigs that are so loud that an Omni 15 wouldn't cut it.![]()
....my ears want to be somewhere else!
