[[Read the O15 reviews on my site, it's not a problem. Even without casters the tweeter is 26 inches above the floor. On the average 4x10 the tweeter is half that distance from the floor.

Bill correct me if I’m wrong but 26” is still about knee level is it not? I’m wondering about putting it up on a stand up around chest level. Also what about the DR’s – which is the design I’m currently most interested in?

Bill as long as I am bending your ear, I was wondering about a couple of other things.

1. One of the main characteristics (as I understand it) of your design is that the cabinets don't color the sound of ones bass or amp signal. Apparently some really love that and some don't. Is there a way for me to find out ahead of time through perhaps headphones, etc. what my bass and amp actually will sound like thru your cabinets?

2. Also, I'm curious about what I can expect to be difference in sound between the DR 250-280 and Omni 15.

3. Finally, which cabinet would you recommend (if any) for double bass and why?

Doh, don't you think you're twisting facts here? Your forum has over 700 members (704 to be exact), NOT owners (let alone current owners, as I'm sure some have sold theirs). I for one am not an owner, and I bet there are plenty others who never built one, just registered to ask some questions.

In terms of owners 700 is a very conservative figure. The number of people who have bought plans exceeds the number of registered members by a very large margin. But only registered members can reply on the forum.

BTW Dragonlord, you are acting like a total prick.

Bill Fitzmaurice has nothing to prove to you or anyone else for that matter. His products and knowledge speak for themselves, and he is always willing to help. For as much as he participates on this forum, I have never once heard him plug his products or act otherwise in an untoward fashion. Given the number of people who have posted as owners of his cabs or builders of his cabs, I find it very believeable to think that well over 700 people own BF cabs.

I found the site very helpful, and extremely encouraging, which was a relief to someone (myself) new to building a cabinet. I was able to build several of the cabinets, and they came out well. The only problem with Bill is once I got *the* cabinet built, he designed another one that was better, so I found myself building that. Fortunately he's stopped ... for now.

Bill would know how many owners he has, but does a set number of owners make any difference? It's the same few that respond to questions. I don't answer many because I'm still new to building cabinets, and will probably always be new, since I make them for my students' bass guitar use. I do, however, check his site several times a day for ideas and helpful hints (looking for leaks, etc). I have an ensemble with 60 students, but it's the same 6 parents that show up to help every time. This is true for groups/committees everywhere.

Thanks Petebass. I've registered but am waiting for activation. I'll try to make it clear but its not just that I'm not an experienced cabinet builder - I simply don't understand any technical aspects of amplification or acoustical science. Hopefully they can 'dumb it down' enough for me to understand.

Anyway, its my intention to have one built but I still have the questions I posted above.

I built and use a tweeterless Omni 15. For bass it works well without a tweeter, at least for my style (blues, classic rock).

Initially I found the cab to be more mid-rangey than I was used to, but I was able to eq it to taste. The low end is HUGE.

Interesting note: I played a show with it a while back, and from where I was the volume was about right, but the sound guy came running up and told me to turn down because glasses at the back of the room were rattling! Seems you have to get a ways away before the volume really kicks in.

I only use the O15 for bigger shows because it is pretty big physically and a little awkward to handle, but it does produce a lot of volume, even with my little GK400.
