Love it. I've got a 135W sort of boutique bass amp (Ratacyck from Brisbane I think) which isn't as grunty, but produced a sort of refined, clear sound. It sounds good, though, and has got plenty of clear bass. The Koch has got loads of grunt if you need it and you can dial in just the amount of distortion you need. It's always reassuring to feel the wind from your cab at your feet.
The Eq on the Koch works really well; I play in a blues band with a P-bass and it's perfect with the treble down so it's at 9 o'clock. The Koch is really loud with the BFM when cranked up; all you'd ever need I think unless you were with a PA! It's not the only consideration obviously, but they do look really good together too.
I also think that's part of the point with the BFM cabs; they transmit exactly what's going through them, and they're sensitive so it's really loud if you want them to be. The 4x10 Labsystems (+/- a 1x15) I had before were good, but they changed the sound quite a bit. The two together produced a lot of noise obviously, but the shape meant not even one of them fitted inside my hatchback - it meant clearing out my wife's kid-carrier with toys and pushchairs when I went to rehearsal. The 4x10 weighs a ton.
Overall I'm really happy with the BFM and can recommend anyone building it. I'd really like to try a T39 and DR250 combo, but just won't have the time for a while.
Looking good! Interested in the review when you've made it; I nearly built one of these, but liked the shape of the O15TB at the outset stage.
I have been using both cabinets about 30' apart. Would I still have the mid/horn inboard position? Mark

they will have grills on them eventually. that should take away from the "wierd" look. but yeah they are kinda funny looking. super clear and articulate sounding though.

yup. or 8 ohms on one side and 4 on the other. i have a mackie 1400i for power so i have some options.
whats the possible max rms for a jack 112 or 110? since they dont really release possible speakers on most of the designs hard to figure out without paying which doesnt make sense. think the ot12 is like up to 350rms out with woofer and hf
all that info can be found on the BFM forum. my jacks use eminence deltalite II 2512's. my first cab cost just under $200 including hardware and driver (no x-over or tweets yet). the thermal rating on the driver is 250 rms/ 500 max. 250 might not sound like alot, but this cab can get MUCH louder than alot of "standard" cabs on the same amount of power. i just played a jazz show with this cab with a 13 peice band in a small auditorium. the mackie was barely lighting up the first light on the input meter (so maybe 50-80 watts) and it was quite loud. the triple stack is really just for kicks. most likely 2 of these will be more than enough. eventually i was thinking i could use 2 for PA (after adding tweets and x-over) and one for bass. or 2 for bass and one for a drum monitor.
ill be putting DPDT switches on the tweeters so i can switch them full/half/off. maximum flexibility!
also, check out speakerhardware.com . he sells "kits" with the drivers and hardware for the BFM cabs. gives you a good idea as to which drivers work and what your costs might be.
yeah IM looking at PA possibilities, I was just trying to get an idea because IM pairing up with a certain amp with whatever I decide to go with for PA Mains. I was\am on the site alot of answers concerning types of woofers and hi comp hf drivers were "the ones on the plans" which im not gonna buy plans then decide it dont fit my needs use a different plan. because right now im back and forth between the jack10 jack12 OT12 or a self designed radial. I tend to look at all my options several times before pulling the trigger
dont get me wrong I dont mind buying the plans or anything, I just like to know what im getting before I get it. the jack12 has almost no info at all. Im probably gonna end up doing a design with a 3012HO since the rms meets more my needs in terms of matching up with the amp channel I will be using.
